In general, it's better to have less of something (outboard, instruments, amplifiers, microphones) but of very high quality, rather than a bunch of crappy ones.

People mentioned gear, that's fine but mostly a matter of taste. What you need, the things you cannot fake, are (in order of importance)
1) WORKING equipment. Broken or half-working gear is extremely frustrating. Fix it or get it the fuck out of my face.
2) enough physical space
3) a few good mics

There's no reason not to get this really. I love Cherry Audio's ARP2600. Especially used inline as an effects box. Seems like you can use this the same.

I've been doing an ongoing OCD derived multidisciplinary project on Joy Division.

The basis is writing and I posted up the first part a month ago on here.

It mainly takes the form of video essays... this one is on the aesthetic and social roots of the band.

Run out of sugar for your tea or baking?

Simply use salt. It looks exactly the same!

Don't want to pay out for sweets for all those pesky kids?

Simply smash your windows and daub the words 'Pedo Scum' across the front of your house.

R.I.P. to my friend Pål. I sent him a message last week. Was unlike him to not reply. Seems a heart attack took him the day I sent it. A good man and entertaining company as well as one of Norway's top chefs till a hernia took him out. 55 is no age is it? I'm glad I knew him as he passed through.

I reviewed the Friday's gig, just gone live. Paid for my ticket and a couple of drinks. Wrote it up this morning with just a tinge of hangover after seeing some of my favourite people yesterday.

Guy got prosecuted for killing a protected species of eagle. Judge mitigated the fine because he'd shot it by accident, and on realising, he'd put it to use by eating it. Judge asked, "Out of interest, what does it taste like?" - Guy said, "Rather like swan."

Only managing to get a little through 'Summer of Soul' at a time cause of care needs with my dad. My god though. We've just had Sly and the Family Stone, Max Roach, Stevie, Sonny Sharrock and now, the queen Nina Simone. Dad's the one who got me into music, he's absorbed in it.

No politics but I have a Gavin Williamson anecdote.

My mate's wife was in the same year as him at school.

He asked her on a date when they were 12.

She accepted and agreed to go to the cinema... 1/2
