Facebook in MELTDOWN because @mynottingham.bsky.social have the TEMERITY to install a new bridge for cyclists / pedestrians. HOW DARE THEY not build a road bridge somewhere else at many times the cost?
I disagree with much Nottm CC have done but they deserve all the kudos for getting this built

Dear Corbynite left.
A LW candidate winning NYC mayor says little about UK politics. But one thing you could learn is that part of his appeal is he's a polite and decent guy who welcomes supporters. Insulting everyone who doesn't meet your purity tests repels others. It why you always lose.

Self-appointed worthless ultra-nimby Nottingham Civic Society complaining about redevelopment of eye-sore Broadmarsh site complaining of the loss of historic building Big City Tyres. Just admit you hate people and want no jobs or housing. Pathetic.

It's easy to pontificate on Labour govt failings so here's my shot.
Stop chasing reform vote's they are old working class voters screaming into the void. What upsets them is the C21st. No remedy will satisfy them. Ignore them.
Invest in a hopeful, fairer UK with opportunity for all.

Bad luck Zac Polanski. I may not agree with you about many things but I'm not sure what you've done to earn the indignity of Owen Jones' endorsement.
OJ is the kiss of death for political careers, he'll be screaming "sellout" before Easter. Because its all about him.

Went into Nottingham B&Q last night not long before it closed. Despite the store being quiet there was a large queue for 1 open till. So asked customer services why they didn't open more and got a rant about staff cuts.
All fair enough
Except the closed tills were all self service. Huh?

Your reminder from Corbyn-era Labour: party membership nos are vanity. Individuals being enthusiastic about a party means nothing (eg @greenparty.org.uk today) .
Winning elections is what counts and voters reward competence: @libdems.org.uk won 7/10 council byelections last week.

Fair point, Polanski seems like he must be young because he acts like a teenager
I'd drop the 'young' bit too. He's a few weeks younger than I am.

There needs to be a UK criminal investigation into Prince Andrew. If he were anyone else he'd already have been interviewed by police and probably charged if any of those women were under 16. A truly disgusting man.

Bravo to GM for taking this seriously. Anything that reduces fear of crime on public transport is very worthwhile in building confidence in using it.

Got to Nttm stn with just enough time to find that the train was cancelled. I'm now sat on the next one waiting to start. It's 1/2 length, rammed full and late. Top start to the day. @eastmidsrailway.bsky.social couldn't run a bath never mind trains

A pet hate.
I live in sight of this. Generation ended not just for green reasons but also costs and because it was at end of design life. Keeping derelict cooling towers is an absolute waste of cash and sterilises land that can be used for something useful.

Nottingham isn't mentioned in the new UK industrial strategy, Bristol is mentioned 5 X. East Midlands are mentioned 4 times but all in the context of manufacturing (ie Derby).

Good Andy Burnham : prepared to consider re-joining EU
(controversial, easier to say nothing)
Bad AB: allowing OAPs to use bus passes before 930. This is to stop overcrowding in rush hour and spread travel out helping retain decent service all day (see also SNP ending peak fares)

Reform's energy policy is fantasy. You might want to extract more gas from the North Sea but if it isn't there because of the geology then this is skypie.

In politics you hear arguments seen to be "trump cards" to stop further discussion that generally mean people haven't read the paperwork.

In UK science "the Haldane Principle" has this status. Oft quoted but less read than "War and Peace"

Neither of my kids' state schools' uniforms were like this. Logoed items: blazer, gym top, optional v neck sweate, rugby shirt (girls: logoed skirt). Everything else (shirts, trousers etc) generic, logos banned on shoes/trainers. Are some schools taking the piss?
