The BBC is ours. It's ours to love. Ours to criticise. Ours to shout at when we feel in the mood.

And if Farage thinks that the way to win favour with voters is to stand around cheering as Trump takes down the BBC for $1 billion of personal enrichment then he's a bigger fool than anyone thought.

Trump's White House & fawning hacks here don't really care about the 0.001% that the BBC gets wrong. They care about all the stuff it gets right.

Can the BBC sue Trump for him lying about knocking down a wing of The White House to build his ballroom? nymag.com/intelligence... Only joking of course but it shows the ridiculous nature of what Trump is attempting to do re the BBC and the 'standards' he lives up to. #r4today #wato #bbcpm
The White House Lied About Destroying the White House
Trump said his ballroom wouldn’t “interfere with the current building.” Now the East Wing is rubble.

The breadth of services maintained by the BBC, Damian Collins, has been made more and more difficult by the intervention of the governments you supported.

Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

I used to show students my lab notebooks as examples of how to record and accurately use data. I then took them to a page where I had made an error and showed how that had led to failed experiments (all were underlined in red ink). Trump and the right don't want that-They want subservience. #r4today

I demand greater accuracy from myself than I do from others. I do get things wrong but then I correct them if my mistakes are pointed out. Trump and the right demand that their lies should not be challenged but any minor errors from their opponents should be greatly magnified. #r4today

I might point out that President Trump said that construction of the ballroom at The White House would involve no interference to the existing building. His lies should have no consequences while errors from the BBC should cost it a billion dollars? The BBC should grow a spine. #r4today

Many of the presenters of #r4today who have for years been happy to read out lies and misinformation from the overwhelmingly right-wing press during the paper reviews are now concerned about 'accuracy' www.thepoke.com/2025/06/19/t...
The Telegraph’s correction to its heartbreaking private school fees sob story just gets better and better
You might remember a little while ago how a Daily Telegraph story about a family struggling to keep up with rising public school fees went wildly viral. Indeed, so tough were they finding it after Lab...

I demand any discussion of Trump includes verbatim reporting of his speeches without any cleaning up of what he actually says. Thus when he comes out with a rambling incoherent 20 minute section on windmills/sharks/showers the BBC should play it in full on #Americast

The problem with ignoring reality is that it eventually catches up with you-Will a Reform government tell you that your house isn't flooded due to climate change or that the fires consuming neighbourhoods don't exist and that if the BBC mentions them then Farage will 'take action'? #Newsnight

What Reform is up to isn't politics. Their backers in the media try and spin them as another party but in reality they have no interest in solving problems or introducing legislation to improve the lot of ordinary people. They simply want to tear institutions and systems down. #Newsnight

"Donald Trump is willing to cancel flights at Thanksgiving and starve American citizens in order to deprive people of affordable health insurance" was a winning message for the Democrats. The polls and Tuesday's elections proved it. But they flinched, behaving as though winning was losing.

Honestly, I did NOT have "punching the air and going HELL YES to Chris Patten" on my bingo card today. But what he says is SO rarely said and needed saying SO badly!

"How shall we treat Mr Farage's concerns? Shall we hail Brexit a tremendous success? Something that has cost the country billions?"

I've always felt that Johnson and Farage put self-interest over the national interest - hence their dallying with Putin and his oligarchs. But directly colluding with a foreign government to take down the BBC feels like an act of supreme treachery

I think it is great that the standard has been set that those who get things wrong have to resign-I look forwards to #r4today presenters pointing out during their frequent press reviews how many of the articles in the UK media are based on lies or misinformation.

A key victory in Trump's road to power in America was successfully branding the majority of its established press as "fake news". Now, he is bringing this across the pond to the BBC – where these same tactics are favoured by prominent politicians and media outlets on the right. A dangerous moment.
