Excellent analysis of a criminally overlooked gem. Its busy release window, somewhat generic title and first-blush familiarity have done it a great disservice in drawing the attention it deserves but as the year winds down and GOTY conversations spark up, this is well worth consideration.

Cronos: The New Dawn, released the very same day as Hell is Us, also has this blessed feature and should be celebrated accordingly.
11 hours into Cronos and having a great time. Vibes are moody, atmospheric and very Polish, and the "don't let them merge" combat hook brings fun tension. Also, cats!
