Kitchen nearly done.
After many years there won’t be a Monday sourdough bake. No 14 is sold and the new owners were in today.
Might just finish the red bottle after sharing the ends with Mrs Aj and Son.*

Cardamom Chocolate pot, small.
A candle is alight in the background.

* they shared a white.

You can just make out the painted-on cycle lane on the eastern section of Cherry Hinton Road in that cycling city of Cambridge. This is what happens when local councils are chronically underfunded and have no powers to tax excess wealth generated here. (ARM have their HQ half a mile down the road)

Long afternoon walk: threatened rain and didn’t until Son and I got home.
Primary school, Cupar Road, High street, seawall, Boat brae and West Road.

Saturday night supper: moussaka and a green salad with red wine.

It’s incredible how perspective changes the sizes of plate v the wine glasses. A bottle shared three ways.

Born in Hamelin, Lower Saxony, but raised in Bedford, he* was introduced to minimalist music at the age of 12-13 by the local milkman, an avid new music fan who delivered him records by Terry Riley, Philip Glass and John Cage with the daily pint and inspired an epiphany.

Good morning.

They erased Ruby Bridges from the textbooks. I’m putting her back in the story.

They buried her courage and hoped we would forget.

ERASED isn’t a book—it’s a weapon.
Read it before they ban it. Share it before they erase her.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

The food at 3 Old Monks in Leith is a real improvement. We enjoyed the steak and ale pie and the friendly service. It is a great spot for a cheap pint and a meal. Read our full verdict. edinburgh-reviews.co...
