why would this (need to) be contextless? The observed differences in cross-cultural studies - also those involving economic games - tend to be explained through contextual factors. Why would that be any different in this case (or in these cases)?

Science should be robust. One way to achieve this, is by doubting/probing its robustness. I guess that the degrees of freedom that historians have, make it rather unlikely that history is robust.

Heel veel goede ('excellente') aanvragen worden niet gehonoreerd. Gelukkig zijn er andere financiers. Zo lanceerde de Koning Boudewijn Stichting onlangs een oproep rond mentale gezondheid. 4 voorstellen kunnen worden goedgekeurd. Het aantal aanvragen zal rond de 80 liggen.

ben benieuwd, maar ik denk dat het in filosofie uitgesprokener is omdat de onderwerpkeuze sterk steunt op de idiosyncratische voorkeuren van de docent en de opleiding sowieso meer van het signalling type dan het human capital type is.

Mocht ik vandaag examens afleggen voor onze bachelorvakken, dan ik zou waarschijnlijk op hooguit een of twee van die examens slagen. Dat zegt ongetwijfeld veel over mij, maar misschien ook veel over onze opleiding en het vakgebied.

While we've been quite good at predicting life-expectancy gains, we've systematically been too optimistic about future fertility trends. That means there's a significant risk we're underestimating population ageing today too.
We better prepare pension systems for a low-fertility future.

In 1994, the average total fertility rate in the OECD was around 1.9 and projections assumed fertility had reached its lowest level and would bounce up again. By 2012, it had decreased to 1.7, but projections assumed it had reached its lowest point and would bounce up again. By 2024, it had decreased to below 1.5, but projections yet again assume it has now reached its lowest point and it will bounce up again.
