I wrote a thing last week. Check it oot
Trust is multi-layered. To trust a claim, you must be able to trust the chain that relayed it (cryptography helps, but isn't enough), AND the originating institution. When claims are AI-generated, who do we trust? Our new piece argues that trust in AI providers equals trust in incentives and values.

Its founder, Ken Jeffers, recalls its impact and finds in its undoing a familiar story.

Media coverage of Gaza has plummeted. So today on @thenation.com, we're doing something pretty special: we're only running pieces by people in and from Gaza.

We're calling it "A Day for Gaza." You can find links to all of the incredible pieces here. Please read! www.thenation.com/article/worl...

Today, The Nation is turning over its website exclusively to stories from Gaza and its people. This is why.

@makeworld.space spends a lot of time correcting our use of words here at Hypha, so we thought we'd ask him to write a glossary of some commonly used terms in the spaces of provenance and digital trust. Never let a good deed go unpunished!

Interesting post and thread about the loooong awaited community centre in my hood. Agree that Canadians generally have a consultation problem but the characterization of public input as 'loud neighbours' seems dismissive. Ultimately, it would be nice to get the darn thing built tho
We have a consultation problem. I write about a Toronto rec centre that will have taken 14 years to plan, cost at least three times the original budget - and be a bad building.

www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic...
What is the cost of consultation?
Toronto recreation centre that started as $40-million project in 2016 has ballooned to nearly $113-million before construction even starts

THIS. Toronto's wanton salting makes me crazy. My anti-salt stance is partly stemming from former dog ownership (salty paws are sad paws) and partly from the no-brainer that salt is bad for gardens, fresh water, basically anything living.

Given everything happening right now, I updated this article with options for weather apps, web forms, and translation services — along with some tweaks to existing categories.

I hope it helps your transition off US tech!
Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!

Imagine if they put that money towards health care or education instead. What a crazy idea!!
Your tax dollars at work: Ontario has spent nearly $270,000 in external legal fees (not including their own in-house lawyers or $200,000 awarded in costs) to attack your Charter rights and amplify a bad faith culture war contrary to the advice of their own experts.
