How odd that elected officials have fully shifted to Huckster Stage Capitalism at the same time our entire tech and finance industries are begging us to spend money on AI.
While Tylenol remains a tool recommended by medical professionals to treat pain and fever during pregnancy, the state of Texas is suing the makers of the medication for allegedly hiding unproven links to autism and other disorders. Scientists have found no such causal relationship.

He charges back shouting revolutionary screeds while pulling several shopping carts piled high with malformed baggage.

This may be the fullest extreme of a guy crossing the Nicholson Line.

Dear @gavinnewsom.bsky.social – You've been my Mayor, Lt Governor, and Governor for 21 consecutive years. As you can see it's not difficult to do right by trans people. California doesn't proper from bigotry. San Francisco is enriched by trans acceptance. Please just take a stand for the truth.
UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Classic leftist rage bait, complete with an unflattering photo of Chuck Schumer who wasn't there. Are you being paid in dollars or rubles @distillsocial.bsky.social?

A year from now "true leftists" will still insist this happened.
🚨 #BREAKING: The Senate just unanimously voted to make Charlie Kirk’s birthday a “National Day of Remembrance.” Bipartisan unity to honor Kirk… but still nothing on gun violence, healthcare, or families crushed by bills. The bar for “leadership” isn’t low — it’s underground. Pathetic.

Lying about who he was does not honor his family, because then they are exposed to painful truths that they might not have been aware of previously. His work did not involve good-faith debate or spirited discourse. He engaged in the demonization of innocents and was in opposition to civil rights.
The best way to honor Charlie's memory is to continue his work: engage with each other, across ideology, through spirited discourse. In a democracy, ideas are tested through words and good-faith debate — never through violence.

Bluesky has killed the outrage marketer grift. When everyone was confined to one place, plausible deniability existed. One could have happened across a comment from a usual target. But to carry comments from Bluesky over to Twitter to enrage one's audience makes one look like a stalker or weirdo.
A lot of the big complainers about Bluesky are basically describing Threads but their real issue with Bluesky is that they specifically dislike around 12 people who they could ratio on Twitter if it still existed. It’s basically niche influencer drama pretending to be about policy

When this song was released in 2011 it was assumed to be about Dick Cheney or Henry Kissinger, evil destructive men who seemed immune to consequences. Now it's a crowded field — Putin, Trump, Netanyahu, Assad, Musk, Murdoch — and the still living Cheney barely merits a thought.

Having extracted every last drop of profit from an international rules based system, the greediest bastards who've ever lived have decided to do away with rules altogether so they can pick the corpse of democracy clean.
What's your take on the moment we're living through in 50 words or less. [you able to quote post]

Question: is there a bonking protocol on Threads?

With Putin desperate for a rescue by Trump, the bots and tankies are out in Twitter level force with all the usual BS.

Here is a good sample thread. Please advise. Thanks!

I'm getting my highest ever Bluesky engagement because someone found my screenshot of a Jenny Nicholson post.

While I came up with "crossing the Nicholson Line", proper credit to @jennynicholson.bsky.social putting that line into words.

Lest mine estimable nemeses DECRY me for STOLEN VALOUR.
I keep this screenshot handy when someone's replies start to cross the Nicholson Line.

Albums from when I was 16 that I personally consider perfect. See the alt text for each.

1986 was a year when 80's music sped off a cliff. Still some great heights but mostly momentum, with an abyss of cringe below. Even great artists were calcifying into soft rock for department store soundtracks.

It should be illegal to require email verification and not send the email.

Disqus once sent me in circles because they blacklisted my address on THEIR end and still said the email had been sent.

Now it's PG&E's account migration. No it's not being bounced or filtered. I'm fully tech literate.

I came of age just in time (1988) to get a CALLING CARD that let me call anywhere from a pay phone without coins. You'd call the card's free 1-800 number, enter your account and the desired number, and after about twenty beep boops your call went through.

ANY PAY PHONE. I was a man of the world!
What’s a real thing from your childhood that kids these days would find completely foreign?

Like, how we used to be able to walk right up to the gate to meet our family coming off a flight.

Or how we had to pick a spot to meet at the theater BEFORE we went.

Thank you @jamesgunn.bsky.social for Edi Gathegi as a hero who triumphs instead of getting cheaply killed off. I hope he someday takes out Kevin Bacon.

ST:TNG should have used Nilo Rodis' concept art for Romulans from The Search For Spock. Originally the Bird Of Prey crew were Romulan with Edward James Olmos as Kruge.

The TNG Romulans would have been spared those bowl cuts and silver quilted pointy shoulder pads. And probably a lot less cranky.

I agree with everything but "They are not Republicans."

This is who Republicans are. This is what Republicans will not stand up against. This is what Republicans have pandered to for decades.

This is what Republicans did not indict after January 6. Letting Trump run again created this.
