I'm Hanna, a creative director / tech artist / writer who has worked on 40+ games, movies, and TV shows. I have a background in interactive fiction, UI, film, programming, VFX, theatre, journalism, and religious cult studies, which is both strangely confluent and difficult to fit in 300 characters.
Beat Act 2 of Silksong at just under 67 hours. HowLongToBeat claims the average is 28h, which is absolutely wild? But also 60% of players never even made it this far, so I'm pleased as punch regardless (and I did most of the optional stuff, which is certainly a factor).

I love that a bunch of realtors in Vancouver made a fake group called the "Top 1% Club" so they could all put "one of Vancouver's Top 1% realtors" on their ads and not TECHNICALLY be lying

The Internet post-Stranger Things: "Stories should only be told as quickly / efficiently as possible. No breathing room. No pacing. Zero establishing shots. If something can't be said with bullets, it isn't worth saying. Honestly 95% of the cast is just its emotional core and barely shoots at all."

Kiddo, pointing to a half-eaten bun beside their bed: "Ewwwwww! How did that get there?"

Me: "Well it looks like you tried to sneak a bun to your bed to eat."

Kiddo: "NO, I DIDN'T SNEAK IT, I brought a bun to my bed to eat, and then I dropped it, and then I FORGOT IT THERE."

If this sounds awful to you, it's because you're an uncultured fool who has never played FFVI. Sometimes random encounters are just one facet of the greatest packages of all time.
Having a kid that bolts is like playing an RPG with random encounters. You think you're having a nice time exploring with your party, when the battle music kicks in and you're suddenly playing with entirely different systems and skills for a few minutes. Then back to exploring!

Like nearly always by your side, like 95% by your side (also this joke doesn't make sense if the image is cropped)

Essentially, I think that LLM-generated dialogue only makes sense if you believe that the product of writing is words.

But the product of writing isn't words, any more than the product of justice is prisoners, or the product of love is weddings. The product of writing is meaning.

Having been to two Christmas markets this year, it's important that everyone knows that perogies are SUPPOSED to be made with cottage cheese inside, and stuffing them with potato is disgusting and actually super offensive to Mennonites

Are Windows files still named [six letters + "~#"] under the hood, keeping the original DOS 8+3 names and then referencing a file table for long names, or are they long names that now have fake 8+3 versions in a database for backwards compat? Because "C:\PROGRA~1" still works for "Program Files"...

Hey so we won an Indie Game Award ⭐
We are so beyond honoured that Rift was recognized for its music for the @indiegameawards.gg

Thank you to all our incredible composers.

Rift of the NecroDancer doesn’t just feature music – it IS the music. ❤️

Once again for the people in the back. If you think something "isn't political", it's just because its politics match yours so closely that you don't see them. Everyone else still does.
"This game will be free of political agendas" = "This game will be full of my political agenda."

I only went and bloody did it. Made a little spot to write about it, too: hetconned.substack.com

“Hetconning (n.) — the deliberate retroactive straight-washing of history to frame queerness as a modern intrusion. A pretext for justifying attacks as a “return” to a world that never existed”

My wife and I decided to watch Fantastic 4: First Steps, and in six months we'll see a thumbnail for it and ask if we've already watched it, and we'll scratch our heads and go "I don't...think so?"

It needs to be treated as importantly as "no animals were harmed during the making of this film"

Because yeah, for a time? Animals got harmed and people accepted it as a part of the process. And it was wrong.

So is this, and it needs to stop.

Ahhhh, a fresh install of Windows to close out 2025 and I'm once again installing Photoshop CS6 because it's still the best version. And weirdly paying $7,020 in subscription fees would not in fact have been worth it

Sudden flashback to demo reels all being on DVDs, you'd even give them fancy packaging. I always wanted to put mine in tin cans but that would have added like $5 to each of them.
Remember when we had entire software packages dedicated to making fancy DVD menus? I remember. I'll remember for all of us.
