The Amazing Maurice is on one hand a really strong example of "what if animals learned to be people" stories done well with a great cast of ratty characters, unfortunately weighed down by terribly uninteresting human characters (in one case on purpose!) that reeks of Pratchett recycling themes.

honestly the best thing about the (potential, don't be complacent) Discord exodus is indie developers actually updating their Steam and Kickstarter updates instead of keeping it in their Discords. It's not hard, we don't need big news every month, just a "hey we're still working" ping monthly, cool?

Signing up for Stoat has taken literal days because the email verification system is, understandably, quite sluggish right now. Finally got setup though and hoping the switchover will be smooth.

3D would stand out better

A part of the reason Discord is going to shit is they want to do their IPO and get shareholders. Steam has always been a private company and so successful they don't need those parasites fucking things up. Steam is, to some extent, a wonderfully stable platform.

Apparently there are android and IOS apps but at first glance they don't have many reviews on the stores...

Cancelling nitro subs is the single objective form of protest against this decision and the smartest thing to do if you're in the position to make a statement.
after having kept nitro through dogshit decision after dogshit decision from discord, I finally cancelled it. At this point the question is "can I continue safely using discord" and I can't justify paying for a service I might not even use anymore

Discord enforcing age verification globally is quite possibly the best example in recent memory of a policy decision that exists solely to shoot yourself in the foot. I'm sure the alternative platforms (Revolt/Stoat) are already seeing massive population upticks.

Just finished reading (listening to) Mogworld and now the idea of a Pathfinder kingmaker-esque campaign about an upstart team of villains and the logistics of running a dungeon is lodged in my brain. I'm sure it's not a NEW idea but nothing I've ever gotten to try, sadly.

I love Jingo but Pratchett really couldn't keep the cities stance on printing presses straight. Start of the book says Constable Visit has a press for his pamphlets and then chapters later we get the reminder that the engravers killed the last guy who had one.

That's a fair point and it's not uncharacteristic. It's just funny that the book plainly states that Magrat "thinks every problem can be solved by talking" and she just dodges every available chance to talk to anyone before things go pear-shaped. It's also the start of breaking up the trio...

It's also weird how Weatherwax and Ogg handle the problems, with Nanny Ogg more or less ALLOWING Esme to take all blame and be a scapegoat for frustration, despite being the one who was responsible for encouraging Varence to make decisions without Magrats input.

Most of the scenes with Magrat leading up to her finding her...spirit queen, for lack of a better word, use too much force to hammer home her indecisiveness. She has every right to be mad but there's a wishy washiness that drags out rather than expands upon good conflict.

I've never been able to say that I like every Discworld book but Lord & Ladies is probably the one I have the most complicated feelings about. Best portrayal of elves as a horror monster and framing faeries as antagonistic, but also a terrible character assassination of most of the cast, hmm...

Finished Anthology of the Killer a few days ago and it's burned itself into my brain. Feels like how I think about designing games fundamentally has changed. I've got to make weirder games.

I've been re-listening to the old Discworld City Watch books and stand by my opinion that Jingo is the best in the series with everything afterwards going downhill. Jingo feels like something that kids need to read in school to understand Bush-era Islamophobia and the mentality that birthed it.

I'm sure that indeed thought they were being considerate adding these 'response seems unlikely' tags on pending applications but it feels more like a knife twist.

Sorry I was wrong, full breakdown is here. Funnily enough when I removed the fairy typing due to plot reasons the only change was it removed their immunity to dragon.

Further prep work for my pokemon game. Fun fact: the only weakness this enemy has is to rock.

Spending my new years day preparing maps for my Pokemon tabletop group I'm sure they're going to love the random-event maze on the east wing (The throne in the upper-right is the actual escape).

A raspberry Pi can self host a WordPress page but the response times won't be great. I'd suggest they look into a LAMP stack and host from a proper computer.

Probably quite safe to take a cyber truck through there, not like having zero taste would be considered a liability in that particular situation.
There’s a live stream of people driving through Donner Pass in the middle of a snow storm and of course the Cyber truck got stuck.

8bitdo makes fantastic controllers, the ultimate C2 has been reliable for a good year now.
Do any of you know of any *reliable* gamepads for PCs? As in, it doesn't have to have neon stuff, it doesn't have to have a bunch of extra stuff, it just works?

Learning how to cook with tofu was one of the best things I ever did for my meals. Absolutely great advice here.
Doing vegan / vegetarian meals so can afford more expensive meat cuts to treat yourself with instead of having cheaper meats everyday has a sorta cathartic value to it tastebud and sensation seeking wise.
