It’s worth tempering the enthusiasm by noting that Carney mentioned lowering taxes on capital gains, increasing defense spending, & mining in more places. We all have a right to be angry at GOP voters -- that almost goes without saying. But I still maintain a special reserve of vitriol for people who can't be bothered to vote at all. They, by themselves, could have prevented this. They, by themselves, can stop this whenever they want to.

The thing that needs to be understood about fascists in Germany shutting down elections in Germany when they took power during the 1930s wasn't them shutting down democracy.

I'm not sure where this idea comes from that ICE and Border Patrol couldn't hack it in the "real" military. The data does not support this; in fact both of these agencies recruit heavily from the military. A very large number of Border Patrol agents and Deportation Officers are former infantry.
