Astronomy is a field where so many discoveries by women have been claimed by their male employers. Using updated names for objects like Fleming's Triangle (instead of "Pickering's Triangle") is one thing we can do to tell a better story about women's historical and future roles in the cosmos!

We'll second this and call for a complete revamp of all the Southern constellations. They're the 18th Century equivalent of "Tesla Model S", "iPhone 12", and "Bored Ape" and half of them are triangles. Luckily, when you look at the sky yourself, you can make up your own names for everything you see.
The names of our galaxy’s large satellites are quite ahistorical. It’s time we did something about it.
Why do we call them the Magellanic Clouds anyway? Magellan didn't discover them, didn't document them, and didn't make it back to Europe to tell people about them. Dennefeld (arxiv.org/abs/2009.04973) goes into great detail on the history behind the clouds and the name #arxivoftheweek 🔭

We're correcting the closed captions on each video today and no matter how many times we see this footage, it's hard not to feel excited about what a different 🧪 STEM project this is and what a different "how to build your telescope" 🔭🔭guide this is. Have you seen anything like this before?

It looks like stargazing and astronomy people are using 🔭 as a way to hashtag good outer space stuff here. Does this work to boost the signal? Since there's no binoculars emoji (why?), let's just use two of these 🔭🔭. If you have two eyes, use them!
