Just wanted to make an inaugural post on here to say hello! Not really sure what to write just yet, but glad to have a place that's much nicer than Tw*tter. The best way I can describe it is it's like Bsky is to Twitter what Episcopalianism is to Catholicism. So we'll see how it goes...
The fact that he started talking about the MMR vaccine ("Measles, mumps...") and clearly did not know that the "R" stood for rubella...
Trump: "I think it has -- I think it's very bad. They're pumping, it looks like they're pumping into a horse. You have a little child, a little fragile child, and you get a vat of 80 different vaccines, I guess. 80 different blends. And they pump it in. So ideally, a woman won't take Tylenol."

This #Autism press conference is an absolute disgrace. I can't stand any of what is happening and I am ashamed to have a president who talks so confidently while being so ignorant and uninformed...

Had an amazing time at the 13th annual Ed Asner Poker Night in L.A. last weekend, and one of the highlights was getting to chat with @davesfoley.bsky.social, who also happens to be my favorite KITH. Truly one of the nicest human beings ever, and so cute in person… ❤️

Thank you to @newsweek.com for interviewing me about the new #autism CDC prevalence rates and for giving me the opportunity to speak out against the recent inflammatory comments made by RFK Jr. about #autistic people.

One of the things that no one tells you about getting older is that at a certain point, the month of February stops being about feeling sad over not having a significant other for Valentine's Day and starts being about "how do I keep my aging parents alive until Spring" instead...

People like this are exactly the reason why I stopped going to church years ago...

As an American, I am just trying like hell to hold on and not give up right now…

One of the things I have noticed in the past week is the visceral ferocity with which the "R-word" has come back on social media (specifically on Twitter). It's as if people were champing at the bit to say it again, and are taking a perverse, childish glee in not caring who they hurt by saying it...

Being autistic does *not* make someone give a Nazi salute, just as being autistic does not make someone commit sexual assault or shoot up a school. Being someone who knows they absolutely will not face any consequences or accountability for their actions is what makes someone give a Nazi salute...

A little bit of Christmas magic tonight… 🎄🎁 ❤️
December 25, 2024 at 3:08 AM
Trimming the tree with Mom yesterday and she asked me to put on Christmas music. I put my own cultivated playlist on over the Bluetooth speaker. Two or three songs in, Eric Idle’s “Fuck Christmas” comes on. I have never run for the Skip button so fast...

Excited to share that I have won a Rutgers Presidental Employee Excellence Recognition Award as a member of the Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services team! The award was given to the directors of the RCAAS units and to me, for my work at Rutgers and in the community. So grateful for this honor!❤️

Sometimes I think about the idea that “it’s better to be wrong in a group of people than right by yourself.“ People prefer being surrounded by those who are likeminded, because it’s safer. But for me, I would rather know that I stood up for what I believe in, even if it means being alone…

I was in this exact Waterstones last month and bought a little journal for writing about my London adventures and I'm slowly dying right now...
And here’s a treat from tonight’s Waterstones Piccadilly event: #GoodOmens Christmas jumper the Aziraphale version!

Me pretty much every say since arriving home from my trip last month. London, I still hear you calling...
I am not coping with this. 😭

Sharing some more favorite moments from my first-ever trip to London last month. Got to visit the Globe Theatre for the first time and saw this quote from Much Ado which gave me a lot of Good Omens vibes... ❤️

I've seen a lot of transphobic wingnuts on Tw*tter yelling about how all children "have the right to puberty." Does that include the cis autistic/disabled kids whose parents have asked me if it would be "easier" to prevent puberty in them? Or is this all a smokescreen for your own hate? I wonder...

I just spent two minutes yelling at my screen over something called “caramel apple tiramisu.” It’s like the New Orleans Deconstructed Tiramisu Incident of 2016 all over again, and I’m having war flashbacks. Cream + cake + layers =/= tiramisu. TIRAMISU IS TIRAMISU. Thanks for coming to my TED talk…

I can't begin to express how dismayed I am at this man's nomination. People like RFK Jr. and Jenny McCarthy have caused incalculable damage to autistic people and our families. There is so much more willingness to listen to a celebrity than to do research, and the consequences of that are dire...
I’ve spent the last decade chronicling the #Autism rights movement and #Neurodiversity as a political movement. It had slow but gradual gains. But RFK Jr.‘s nomination to HHS takes a sledgehammer to those hard-won gains.

Opinion | Trump's embrace of RFK Jr. is demoralizing for autistic people like me
Kennedy sees autistic people as problems to be solved, not as people with disabilities who deserve to be accepted.

Back during the pandemic, I kept waiting for the "click" to happen--that feeling in your brain when everything goes back to normal. What I've since learned is that things never go back to where you want to create, and instead turn into times where you need to create. Art is an act of defiance...
I've talked to a few folks this morning who were talking about stopping work on their creative projects. Because it's "not important anymore."

I don't know who needs to hear this, but DON'T DO THAT.

We win by living our lives as loudly and truly as we can. That includes your "silly" art project.
