This is not a tragedy of nature. It’s a crisis caused by human choices — choices backed by billions of dollars in U.S. support.

We stand with Palestinians!
Christian Nationalism merges religion with white supremacy.

It casts immigrants, especially non-white immigrants, as threats to a “Christian America."

We’re closing our AHA offices tomorrow because we refuse to normalize federal agents killing people and calling it enforcement.

Silence is compliance. Business as usual is the lie.

We’re choosing disruption and we hope you do too.

Shirley Raines believed in dignity first.

She saw people beyond their circumstances. She never pretended that one person’s compassion should replace what our government owes its people.

Our hearts are with her loved ones and with the countless lives she touched.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day is a warning that still applies.

Remembering means recognizing the patterns of how dehumanization and state violence enable mass suffering.

As Holocaust survivor Stephen Kapos reminds us, silence enables atrocity.

In this new article for The Humanist, Paul Babb builds a 52-song “heathen gospel” playlist--a track for each week of the year--drawing from science, skepticism and a heckuva lot of joy.

Did Paul leave out any gems?

Sooner or later, the question arises for every atheist, humanist and freethinker: Where's OUR gospel music?

A child finally works up the courage to ask for help at school, and the guidance they’re offered, in a public school, is religion.

We're watching over 20 bills pushing unlicensed chaplains into schools.

What happens when you put a bunch of humanists in a hotel room? 🧐

ICE is targeting children. This is disgusting, inhumane, and it’s something that should deeply, deeply upset you.

When despair feels loud, it helps to remember how much power we still carry.
Not in grand gestures, but in the choices we make every day.

Thank you to Regie Gibson for words that challenge, steady, and inspire.

One can’t help but wonder what Thomas Paine – the American Founding Father who fought for liberty, democracy, and the separation of church and state – would make of today’s United States, with authoritarianism on the rise and Christian nationalism increasingly assertive.

Martin Luther King Jr. asked: “What are you doing for others?”

In his lifetime, he was surveilled, criticized, and opposed for demanding racial justice and collective responsibility.

His legacy reminds us that justice is a shared responsibility.

The Critical Need for Humanist Inclusion

Took some digging, but we’re ready for our 2016 flashback!

10 years ago: rallies, protests, conferences, our magazine. And yes, a familiar science guy. 😉

As the late, legendary Guru put it: We're not new to this, we’re true to this.”

See you again at the 100-year trend.

Demand accountability now: americanhumanist.org/ice

When ICE hides its face, it’s not about safety. It’s about using state power without accountability. Legitimate governments don’t operate behind masks.

Force ICE to show their faces.

Here we go, on and on about humanism… forgetting that a lot of people might be thinking: what tf is humanism, anyway?

Oops... our love for Thomas Paine got ahead of us.

So we fixed it.
