Is Cognitive Functional Therapy evidence-based yet? 3 years after the RESTORE trial, a follow-up report says CFT’s back benefits just kept on trucking!

But… 37% of the subjects weren’t included. Classic survivorship bias territory. My notes, 2-min read:

Pounding the pavement is not a major driver of arthritis, as shown in 2024 study. (This one via @running-physio.bsky.social, thanks Tom.)

So what DOES drive arthritis? Age. Poor fitness. Old injuries/surgeries. And much of that is mediated by GENES, of course. 🧬 Let me spell that out a bit…

🔥 Most important paper I've read all year🔥
👉 Injury/disease doesn't reliably predict pain
👉 Biomarkers alone can't explain pain
👉 PSYCHOSOCIAL factors reliably determine chronic pain
👉 Painful conditions can be predicted from the SYNERGY btwn bio + psychosocial factors

New study of pelvic floor muscle strength (PFM) in women is at odds with a theory I floated recently—ack!—but it's kind of a good/bad news thing …

The good: Heavy weighlifting is nevertheless "well-tolerated" by women, which is another blow to the myth of feminine fragility. Noice. 👍🏻
