A lot of people want third places, fewer want to actually experience the spontaneous socialization with strangers that is the entire point of a third place www.eater.com/24433384/wha...
There Is No True Third Place
When a third place can be everything from a bar to a mall to a luxury health club, does it even mean anything?

Maybe it's because I grew up in the Asian Avenue, Myspace generation but this ode to HTML is beautiful.
In 2024, @wired.com launched Machine Readable, a monthly column about programming. It's been a consistently huge hit, and I'm very glad that this month @tcarmody.bsky.social is offering to fight anyone who dares besmirch HTML's good name:

HTML Is Actually a Programming Language. Fight Me
In fact, HTML is the most significant computing language ever developed. Underestimate it at your peril.

I hope my local arcade gets this Dungeons & Dragons pinball. I would spend hours, and tons of quarters on it. youtu.be/-LszrgZ_zxE?...

What's the latest you'll eat Thanksgiving leftovers?

I'm about to dip into this plate on Sunday night.

Newspapers are good.
Well, to begin with today, happy 104th anniversary to this quite reasonable equine, whose tale was told in the Evening Journal, Wilmington, Delaware, in this day in 1920

Beautiful storytelling. Glad I never bought a video baby monitor because I was too scared I'd see a ghost on it. www.theverge.com/c/24278723/c...

I love that we live in such a content hell that multiple outlets publish articles if there's a new #SNL this week just for clicks.

Glad my local kid's entertainment place has at least one pinball machine among all the coin pushers and games of chance. This game by Stern makes an awesome use of the screen and has really accessible ramps and a fun multiball.

After 73 Yards and now Finetime, I'm recommending that everyone watch the latest season of Doctor Who, even if you've never seen the series before.

This is inspiring, modern, sci-fi television.

I'm so behind on Doctor Who but it's going to be hard to sleep after watching 73 Yards. What an episode.
