I desperately want to read and write but I’m so mentally exhausted after work that the moment I have free time I just lay there like a log. It’s been months and I know it’ll get better but it feels endless and I’m tired.

Everybody clap I wrote the first paragraph of my rewrite this morning after weeks of nothing.
But don’t clap too loud, I promised myself I’d write a synopsis before I started working on the actual book and there’s still no synopsis in sight.

Started to crochet a crayon (or crayololo according to my 18mo) and I thought it would be a simple little project to get back into crocheting. 3 nights in and this thing still isn’t done because I underestimated how big it is.

Writing descriptions are my downfall. If it were up to first draft me. Everybody would be a blank slate in a background less world with no smells or anything

The YA publishing crisis isn’t that we need more mature YA books or a Mature YA label, it’s that we need more YA books published for teens of all ages and less YA books published as YA but also wanting to reach Adult audiences. Adults have plenty of books published for them.

Officially starting my first revision pass. Currently this book is sitting at 112,023 and I’d like to get it under 110,000… after adding descriptions and more interiority and other details to make it flow better.

when you self-publish, 80%+ of your income is likely dependent on Amazon. unless you can figure out how to sell direct, which usually involves PayPal (no problems there!) and giving Meta ridonk $$$ for facebook/IG ads.

Mentally this week has been super stressful but I think the thing that just put me over the edge was when I was explaining to my supervisor how many files I had left to deal with and she looked at me appalled because I shouldn’t have that much work.
