I keep the magic smoke inside networks and let it out sometimes. Travel a bit too. Do landscape and astrophotography when I get the chance and will eventually gain the motivation to post and put a store together

I cannot stress enough how people need to take their privacy seriously.
I also cannot stress enough that a majority of people either do not care or do not know how to even begin protecting their data.

In a few years (max) when people start asking why we thought AI was a good idea I am creating a record that we did NOT think it was a good idea and the main reason people were ever convinced was billions of dollars of propaganda

Chinese hackers (actually, cyber operators) gained control to shut down U.S. ports, power grids, and other critical infrastructure. Intrusions were severe, with key details lost permanently due to erased logs and inadequate tracking. www.wsj.com/tech/cyberse...

“To turn off, go to Settings > Apps > Photos on iOS and turn off Enhanced Visual Search. On Mac, open Photos and go to Settings > General to do the same. You must do it on each of your Apple devices.”
Apple has opted iOS and MacOS users into an AI photo scanning feature which tries to extract landmarks from your photos called Enhanced Visual Search by default with little notice.

23andMe is on the brink. What happens to all its DNA data?
The once-hot Silicon Valley startup has seen its stock’s value decline 99% and is struggling to survive. That has put the spotlight on the genetic data it has on 15 million people.

Hackers showed me (there's video) how a website vulnerability let them locate, unlock, honk the horn, start ignition of any of millions Kias in seconds, just by reading a car's license plate.

They found similar bugs for a dozen carmakers over the last two years.

Millions of Vehicles Could Be Hacked and Tracked Thanks to a Simple Website Bug
Researchers found a flaw in a Kia web portal that let them track millions of cars, unlock doors, and start engines at will—the latest in a plague of web bugs that’s affected a dozen carmakers.

Keeping Trump out of the White House isn’t the only thing that needs doing and it isn’t enough to solve all problems facing the country & world but if it isn’t done then all those problems get exponentially worse in ways I don’t even know how to express and it scares me when people pretend otherwise

My TV doesn't have an OS or an internet connection. My car is from 2016 and it does nothing fancier than talk to my phone over bluetooth. My fridge does not have an OS. My washer and dryer want to go online but I have not allowed them to. None of my lightbulbs have ever done anything "wirelessly."

I used to be a tech enthusiast. I am becoming a tech dethusiast. I don’t want any more tech to buy. I don’t want smart appliances. I don’t want smart pants. I don’t want smart dumbbells.

I just want things that I can buy and that work for 20 years.
