The worst part about knowing how video games are made is the psychic damage you take when people write thinkpieces that basically amount to "games should just be designed good" and then point to examples that had limitless production resources and/or games that were made 25 years ago and are tiny.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion because "it's all in good fun", "it's parody", etc. It's the money that bothers me. Paying to play a GIF of Bart Simpson is one thing, but paying to hear a Bart TTS whose voice trained on every single episode of the Simpsons? That voice actor's entire portfolio?

It makes me so uncomfortable to hear AI "character" TTS voices on Twitch. They're AI likenesses of real actors, trained on copyright work, and people pay money to play those voices on stream. How would you feel if thousands of people were paying to hear an AI trained on your voice say inane things?
