I’m glad this is a kinder, gentler place, if you’ll pardon my having borrowed that phrase from one of the people who helped bring America to the precipice. I commit to be kinder and gentler, too. But it’s important that we not turn it into a bubble that’s too insulated from the world around us.

Susanne Witte (* 1905, † 2005) war römisch-katholische Fürsorgerin (heutiger Begriff: Sozialarbeiterin), ging unter dem Naziterror in den Widerstand und rettete in ihrer Wohnung in der Putlitzstraße 17 in Berlin-Moabit einer Jüdin das Leben.
Das Foto zeigt aus einem seitlichen Blickwinkel das mehrgeschossige, alte Mietshaus in der Putlitzstraße 17 in Berlin-Moabit. Der Blick auf dem Bild führt über die Straße, die vor dem Haus verläuft, und vorbei an einem großen, üppig grünenden Baum. Die Fassade des Hauses ist dunkel und stellenweise brüchig. Der Bau hat ein rot geziegeltes Dach und hebt sich von einem dicht bewölkten Himmel am oberen Bildrand ab.

Das ist Ah­med Mo­ha­med Odo­waa. Er ist einer der beiden Männer, die den Täter von Aschaffenburg verfolgt haben, bis die Polizei ihn festnehmen konnte. Dafür bekam er Dankesschreiben, von Söder und vom Innenministerium.

Er muss Deutschland bis zum 8. Juli verlassen, sonst wird er abgeschoben.
