Knitter of 1/2 made sweaters, sewist, crazy cat lady, salty as hell. Grieving Mama. Crone Era: Freshman class.

Also: free mom hugger, queer ally, suicide survivor, therapy advocate, middle child, OG Outlander addict, bistitchual (I also crochet)
I've been saying from election night that we would see an arch Duke Fernand moment in the first year. I didn't expect it in the first month. What an utter embarrassment.

So...my eggs aren't cheaper. If I'm going to live with orange nonsense for the next 4 yrs, imma need cheap eggs as promised. Yesterday. Oh, and gas under $2, too.

Asking for realsies because I don't know the answer: what is a federal DEI worker?

I went to the office today. The view is amazing, but I've only been back 3 times since Covid. With all the RTO nonsense, I'm so happy to work for a company that voted to stay home & celebrates the benefits as one of our greatest advantages. I don't ever worry about being asked to return.

My brother asked me to repair this quilt for him after my nephew, his only child, died in Sept. It was made (terribly) by my grandmother, who wasn't always a good person. I am taking it apart stitch by stitch to re-quilt the top on to new backing. It's like I'm healing generational trauma.

Sewing friends: I found this address on another site. The Friends of Pine Ridge Reservation are asking for donations of fabric, notions, and patterns. If you're doing spring cleaning maybe consider these folks.

Update on the Bernina 730 learning curve. Use different backing, don't spray the fabric adhesive like aquanet in 1987.

I wish I remembered all the patterns I've used for these, but I kind of made them in a fog. I really like how the black one turned out. 🏳️‍🌈🧶

This is my grieving mama big girl britches week. I've been making these pride scarves off & on to donate to our local queer youth center in memory of my son. I've done a lot of work on unfinished conversations & letting go. It's time. 🧶🏳️‍🌈

Opal & I are in negotiations about how close her princess bed should be to the space heater in my office. She won, obvi. 🐈

🧶Full disclosure about the level of lazy I bring to the table. I started & finished this in 2024 (a new record for me), but I have yet to block it. I didn't do the i-cord binding off right, but my therapist has me working on "releasing imperfect things into the universe" and whatnot.

My mama gave me her Bernina 730 when she upgraded. Olivia is in town this weekend & loves to make silly crafts for her friends. We figured out how to make this, including the thread breaking multiple times. Yay, YouTube instructional videos!
