This is something that comes up often in trust and safety. And the generally accepted best practice is to apply policies going forward. Retroactively doing it creates a whole host of other problems.

Since 'spam' is often context dependent, feeding in the thread the post is in as well as other recent posts the same account has made gives it quite a lot to work with.

using an LLM to ask "is this spam?" about each post actually seems effective. Have to pass in a bit more context than just the post, but i get good results out of gpt3.5
