Bill Gates may have a plan to not die rich, but he sure has lived incredibly rich, primarily through problematic monopolistic practices. Even his philanthropy has often served his own business ends. This is another salvo in the propaganda campaign to paint Gates as a benevolent billionaire.

When the times get tough, the super rich drop the facade that they actually care about climate change. Now is an urgent time to double down on climate spending, instead Gates, Bezos, and company are slashing it, under the cover of and in step with Trump's darkness. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/12/c...

Tembeka Ngcukaitobi does a brilliant job (as always) of explaining and historicising South Africa's new Expropriation Act, dispelling the terrible misinformation that racist right-wingers have been levelling against it.

The new Expropriation Act: Our chance to face SA’s imperial past
Donald Trump claims that South Africa’s expropriation law is aimed at ‘seizing ethnic minority Afrikaners’ agricultural property without compensation’. This is a falsehood. Some historical perspective...

Petrostates and oil & gas corporations are celebrating Trump's return. There's no doubt that this is a victory for the fossil fuel industry & connected rapacious forces. Like the last time Trump was elected, it's key that we use this moment to build resistance.

Oil and gas corporations are appropriating and perverting the language of decolonisation and sovereignty to push forward their extractive and harmful neocolonial agenda. A nice piece in @africasacountry.bsky.social calling out this duplicitous propaganda. 1/2

Liberation is not propaganda
At Africa Energy Week, the language of resource sovereignty disguised a new form of climate denial that appropriates progressive rhetoric in service of fossil fuel companies.

Israel destroyed 83% of plant life in Gaza by June this year.

It destroyed 70% of its agricultural land.

It damaged or destroyed 65% of water tanks and 47% of groundwater wells.

Israel has deliberately tried to make Gaza uninhabitable. This is genocide.

Hello Bluesky world,
I'm new here and wondering if anyone knows good starter packs made up of climate and environmental justice voices, especially more radical ones & from the global south?

Would much appreciate any recommendations as I am not sure how best to find them. 🙏

It's overdue but I left X, and this will be my micro-blogging space to talk climate justice, movement building, and creating a better, more just world.
It's sad to leave X as I had previously built a good community there, but Musk has turned it into dangerous vehicle for right-wing propaganda.
