This is Maria, a 6-year-old detained by ICE last year.

She began to unravel soon after arriving at a detention center in Texas, wetting the bed after years without accidents, crying through the night and begging to breastfeed again.

Most of all, she wanted to be reunited with her cat, Milo. 1/

Not only that, his copartisans will be putting as many rakes and banana peels in his path as they possibly can. The whole movement is cooked once Trump is gone
JD Vance will gladly endure this kind of total humiliation on Trump’s behalf, but when It Happens, there does not exist a single person who will endure the same on JD Vance’s behalf.
I'm at the Olympics and the entire stadium booed JD Vance. 😌

Welcome to the world of selective enforcement, a hallmark of autocratic and hybrid governments. It doesn't matter if the underlying investigation has validity. Because the probe is not about the rule of law, but rather the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of allies of the regime.

for better or worse, people will forget about that video by the end of the year, if not end of the month. but when trump finally kicks the bucket, there were be orgasmic celebrations across the US & around the world. he will be remembered as the most despised US president since WWII for generations

The CIA just stopped publishing their World Factbook and took every page, including the archived copies of previous versions!

This sucks. It was public domain, so I recovered the 2020 edition (the last one published as a zip file) and shared it to GitHub simonwillison.net/2026/Feb/5/t...

My headline take on the last 15+ years of politics is “the constitutional system of government put a black man in charge* so it had to be destroyed”

* and, not for nothing, very nearly two women
You cannot explain everything with this, but you can explain a lot (and the English hardo right has this too): world openness has led to the rightful proprietors of some institutional seats to be outcompeted for those seats, and so both the openness and the institutions need to die
We only want the good immigrants who study hard and don't commit crimes, unless they try to take little Brayleigh's (28 ACT, 1350 SAT) God-given slot at an Ivy away by being smarter, in which case Korematsu didn't go far enough

Yes, Musk is spamming his same old attack, but now more unhinged and untrammeled by handlers, and could really ruin the party for lots of people
I think it is actually quite dangerously load bearing; if this IPO fails to get away or, possibly worse, launches at the bottom of the range and immediately eats s**t then I can see a lot of risk tolerance assumptions being revisited.
