No one should be blocked from work, school, or healthcare because transit isn’t safe, reliable, or affordable. That’s why transit is a civil right.

Today, on #TransitEquityDay, the fight goes on.

A terrifying point reported by Colleen here: even if funding does resume after Feb 6, it will be difficult to get those workers back.

“Workers who get laid off will move on to other jobs and it will be hard to fill in those specialized crafts, which could delay the project should funding resume.”
I visited the Tonnelle Ave project site today where I could see all the tunnel boring machine parts scattered around, collecting snow, waiting to be assembled.

A pause in construction will have huge consequences for this $16B tunnel program.

My story 👇
As suits try to restore $16B Gateway tunnel project, work winds down
It could cost $20 million a month to wind the Gateway project down and secure the sites. If restored, finding skilled workers again could be hard.

A small glimmer of hope: the recently signed federal budget bills include full funding for LIHEAP!

LIHEAP helps over 240,000 New Jersey households pay their energy bills, including seniors, people with disabilities, and low income families.

Federal energy assistance programs survive budget gauntlet
Budget bills passed by Congress this year maintain funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and the Weatherization Assistance Program at levels similar to previous years.

Anthony is calling attention to the challenges South Jersey riders face: fewer transit options & rising costs. Higher fares are hitting hard where service is limited.

🚏 Transit is how we stay connected: to school, to work, to the people we love.

Jasai’s story reminds us that affordability is at the heart of transit equity.

It’s transit equity week, so of course the Trump administration is blocking one of the most important transit projects in the country.

So why exactly did Trump finally stand up to PJM and what does it mean? Check out this thread 👇👇👇

(hint: it’s in part because of all the work we’ve done pressuring PJM from here in NJ!)
For years, states have been pushing PJM – the Mid-Atlantic power grid operator – to fix rising electricity costs. On Friday, the Trump Administration released new principles on cost fairness, signed by the governors of the 13 affected states. www.energy.gov/documents/st...

Sorry but this is the most generic ass mascot I’ve ever seen. Can’t relate to the “he’s kinda cute tho 👉👈” crowd.

This is what happens when you use AI instead of doing what has consistently worked in the past: commissioning a talented furry artist.
The Trump administration today announced a new government-backed fossil fuel industry mascot.

The White House is actually taking the first step to address the data center issue before New Jersey is. I’m speechless.

Let’s be clear: this is happening because of advocates exposing PJM’s failed practices.

But still. Did NOT have this on my 2026 bingo card.

Well I didn’t hear any mention of clean energy, which makes sense given one of his campaign promises was 100% clean energy, a law that did not pass during his reign. But also I didn’t hear much on energy affordability at all, which is surprising given it was central to Sherrill’s campaign. #NJSOTS

The bottleneck at Secaucus is terrible design! Anyone who wants to take transit to MetLife — a totally reasonable choice — has to go to Secaucus first, which is not exactly the gold standard of people-oriented transit development.

Now imagine thousands of Europeans trying to navigate that.
Taking the train out to Metlife from Secaucus is also not much fun.

The World Cup is a great opportunity to evaluate and improve our transit system, especially around MetLife.

As I told a reporter once, “It is considered a rite of passage in New Jersey to sit in traffic for two hours after an event at MetLife.”
