Thank you so much for letting me share this! I’ll definitely be more careful the next time I’m prompted to tip at a church fundraiser

Baking these yummy (but extremely ugly) chocolate chip oatmeal cookies was a fun lesson in chemistry! While assembling the dough, I forgot to add the egg and extract until after I had combined the wet and dry ingredients. I also switched a refrigeration step. The result was flat, ugly cookies 🤷‍♀️

What an incredible talent! I spent days trying to redraw the #violetheadedhummingbird and almost lost my mind
Ooooo thank you for this. I had a wonderful time trying to capture his slightly annoyed expression

I miss cute little anthropromorphized mascots and games that were basically busy work but so fun

This has been my most effective reasoning with undergraduates. “Using chat GPT to write for you is like bringing a robot to the gym to do the lift for you”.
People understand the purpose of struggle when it comes to sports and athletics. It is useful for translating this principle to other realms.
Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

More #birdart practice. This #bird is a blue-gray gnatcatcher, and while drawing it's ten thousand little feathers I questioned all of my life choices.

You would think after 10 years the pain of losing you would not be so intense. But I still miss you and wish you were here.

This is an interesting piece about the psychological impact of caregiving. As someone forced into the role right out of college (and multiple times since then), I found some parts difficult to read.

Helping a sick family member over months or years can be an enormous strain. It can also disrupt your identity. Psychologists say embracing this change can open up new ways for caregivers to cope.

After reading this blog post, I may need to reconsider my disdain for all things Disney-adjacent 🍎

Am I just bitter that the stories of my youth no longer transport me emotionally as they once did?

Animation is a caricature of life, not a lesser imitation of it. Remaking cartoons in live-action, or giving the characters realistic proportions, hairs, warts, etc., robs them of the stylized exaggeration that made them appealing in the first place.

Yes! I’ve been donating to @kqednews.kqed.org for a while now and it’s so worth it to support quality local news! (I love the bay area specific stories)
Just invested in truth by donating to my local NPR station. Quality journalism needs our support now more than ever. Which newsroom will you help sustain? #SupportLocalJournalism #NPR #TruthMatters #PublicMedia
