Heathers (1989)

It only played for 2 weeks where I lived. Saw it 6 times.

Honorable mention:
Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid (1982)
Have asked this before and always like the responses. What are your biggest “I saw that in the first run cinema” flexes? Couple of mine:

Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Office Space (1999)

Every time I see a mention of “Tanner ‘88” I think of his “who’s your favorite Beatle” diatribe. Only saw it once and 37+ years ago, but sticks with me.
Dernzy took everything.
Smash & grab.

So many good options in today’s Immaculate Grid! Went all Negro Leaguers.

Hat tip to @adarowski.bsky.social for the Heavy Johnson knowledge. Slim & Heavy seemed a good pairing.

Jackie & Larry, because sometimes you have to show due respect.

Wow! Many thanks to @dolphindoug.bsky.social for the 1984 Donruss Jumbo set! (And the bonus jumbo Topps Dave Parker.)

Donruss nailed it with the 2 Reds. Ron Oester and my man Gary Redus!

Thanks also as always to @ngtcollectibles.bsky.social for hosting the Sunday Card Swap. Join us! #cardsky

Local Card Show in Tallahassee!

Solid show, although no great weird bargains. Made some headway on a couple vintage sets.

Also decided to go through the newer stuff and see what modern weirdness I haven’t noticed.

Modern Chaos Binder is probably the correct balance for my organized vintage.

Yes!

Buck O’Neil was born in nearby Carrabelle, FL.

Alonzo Mitchell & Duke Cleveland were Jacksonville Red Caps.

Slim Jones and Wilson Redus are personal favorites.

Ben Taylor is a Hall of Famer & bottom row are his 3 brothers, Candy Jim, C.I., and Steel Arm Johnny.

“Minnie Miñosnow” for the baseball nerds!

“Daniel Brrrnham” for the architecture nerds! Make no little snowplows.
The city released the 25 finalists in its "Name A Snowplow" contest. "Abolish ICE" made the list.

Sorting through some boxes of old baseball cards I haven’t peeked at for 20-25 years, some still in packs, and here’s a thread of some of the fun ones. Starting out with a 2001 Bowman card of a guy who kinda came out of the blue as a rookie that year…

Hey @adarowski.bsky.social , over on Mastodon we’re
(@beisbolcards.bsky.social ) noticing that Gary Sheffield is on the grid with a Dodger cap, so thinking cap is decided by WAR.

But Rusty Staub is a Met, not an Expo.

Is there a rule for which photo/team a player is displayed as?

All Reds!

Position shenanigans for rarity. 30-30 means Ken Williams, the first to do it.

Bench & Larkin are the only Hall guys, but Joey will join them.

Imagine Big Klu with those torn off sleeves in the age of ESPN and social media.

Shoutouts: Joe Morgan & Tony Perez.

Just saw that the Twins traded Edouard Julien to the Rockies. Naturally, it makes me wonder…

Levi posts interesting stuff. If you haven’t already stumbled upon him, I recommend.

Here’s the actual post from the screengrab of the timeline serendipity I just posted.

Many thanks to @nightowlcardz.bsky.social for these 1970s gems. I’m a big fan of Larry “the Devil” Milbourne. (My friend Steven and I played tons of APBA with his 1981 card and gave him that nickname.)
