The official font's creator released it to the public. Here is a note from him when he did so. It is available for free and allows non-commercial use.

A graphic showcasing uppercase and lowercase letters, punctuations and symbols displayed in the official RWBY font. Popular emblems from the show can also be created with it. A note from the official RWBY font creator R Zane Rutledge about releasing the font to the public. He notes how it was always his intention to release it, but it was not in Rooster Teeth management's wishes at the time.
