I wrote about narcissists, sociopaths, & Machiavellians in the office, aka THE DARK TRIAD. I did not name that, but oooh I love it. Let's learn to recognize the pattern and do something about it. alanakaren.substack.com/p/truly-awfu...

Are you blocked at work by someone in particular? Take a look at my advice for dealing with the sub-optimal people in our workplace. You know I wanted to title this week's newsletter something else :)

For those of us watching Elon run our government, this is exactly how Tech companies work. EXCEPT they don’t have any of those pesky DEI-hires running around and secretly cleaning up messes, fixing data, keeping good people from quitting. Fascinating, isn’t?

Yep
Convo with my friend from Hungary tonight who left after Orban’s election.

She said “your head will spin with all the wild stuff they try to pull, new things every day, but don’t take your eyes off the money. It’s all about the money, and what they’re stealing, and for whom.”

Costco - the only company to publicly come out in support of Diversity initiatives despite pressure from the GOP and they just raised the pay for their workers. Stop shopping at Target.

Writing satisfaction! I just finished my first new chapter for The Adventures of Women in Tech second edition. I have to edit, of course, but all 21 pages exist. A page turner about how Tech got so dang traditional. I can't wait to share it this Fall. Posting teasers on LinkedIn :)

Going to start posting here too in an effort to stop actively supporting bad people. Good times.
