@skyseed.fund is protocol governance a concern for Skyseed? Is there a conflict of interest with the for profit, Blue Sky (albeit a Benefit Corp), governing over ATproto, something intended to be an open commons? I think funding nonprofit governance dev alongside technical projects would be wise.

Social media right now is a game of pick your favorite (or least bad) corporate autocracy. Blue Sky has the opportunity to usher us into a new paradigm of media and social sense making, if they stick to their mission. I hope management considers spinning off a nonprofit to govern ATproto.

Since writing began, creating text took far more effort than consuming it. As technology advanced, this gap closed. Now, with AI, the scales have flipped—creating content is often faster and easier than consuming it.

This is an excellent summary of the state the social web. People using Bluesky, Threads (those who’ve federated), Mastodon, Flipboard and other apps built on AT Proto and ActivityPub are rapidly forming a new open social graph that is making human connection a formal part of the open web.
I wrote about the week on Bluesky and why it gives me hope.
Most of this is trying to contextualize its popularity alongside Threads, which is trash and has cannibalized Mastodon in what (IMO!!!) is a really harmful way thus far

Wait. It just occurred to me. The push by a ton of MAGA folks in the Missouri v. Biden case (including the district court ruling) was that effectively NO White House official could talk to any social media company without violating the First Amendment.
Yet now Elon Musk will be a WH official.
