We lost. But we came closer to beating entrenched power than anyone has in this city in a while. We were up against basically unlimited money and the most racist, lying IE campaign I’ve seen in my time working Minneapolis politics. Here’s our story and the path forward. (Long 🧵)

Met Flo on the doors and proud to have her support.

When we opened the door, she said “I am a badass broad.”

She’s helped with campaigns since Hubert Humphrey’s run for mayor and knows we need leadership.

Happy Election Day, Minneapolis! Grateful to continue the tradition of voting with my neighbors, this time with the littlest addition to our crew, Sabina.

If you’re voting in person today, reply with your precinct/polling place, the time you voted, and what voter number you were!

Imagine having a Mayor who knows how to work with the City Council, the Hennepin County Commissioners, and the Legislature.

Omar Fateh will be a collaborative and compassionate Mayor who builds an affordable city, that's accountable to us.

I'm proud to be endorsed by Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib. She knows that this election is a critical moment for working people. With a hostile federal government, and the cost of living soaring, she knows that, “Minneapolis deserves a leader who will protect them" -Rashida Tlaib

Our systems are failing if they are not protecting and serving Women of Color. Over a year and a half ago, our public safety system failed Allison Lussier. This fall, it failed Mariah Samuels.

On November 4th, we have a choice between a Mayor who has had 7 years and failed to deliver, or new leadership that actually answers to the people. And the consequences are great.

Do we want more of the same? Or the opportunity to build an affordable city, accountable to us?

Hennepin Avenue is the first major policy issue I worked on as a new Council Member in 2022. As we re-open this street today, knowing how critical it is to revitalizing Uptown, I’m reflecting on the advocacy of the Ward 10 community in making this generational investment possible.

Mariah Samuels was my neighbor. I'm supposed to be able to say that she IS my neighbor. Her murder was preventable. We need to take domestic violence VERY SERIOUSLY, more seriously than we currently do.

Minneapolis woman’s killing exposes gaps in how police investigate domestic violence
In the aftermath of a brutal assault, department leaders failed to assign an investigator to Mariah Samuels’ case. That’s not uncommon.

Mayor Frey's default answer is to call everyone extreme, but even Nancy Pelosi and I agree it's time to take a real stand against Trump. The Mayor would rather throw in the towel because the same people who spent money putting Trump in the WH are bankrolling his campaign.

There's no such thing as a one man government. We need a Mayor ready to collaborate, build relationships, and ensure Minneapolis is taking a cross jurisdictional approach to solve the City's problems.

Minneapolis has become a tale of two cities. One for the wealthy and well connected, and one for all of us — the renters, transit riders, and working families who are left with vetoes and broken promises. We need a Mayor who stands with working people, and works as hard as we do.
