This is probably going to the void but how many books did you attempt to write before considering publishing?

People who hate leaving their comfort zone - how do you know when it’s time to move on and get a new job?

Do you guys add people from your real life (non-internet friends) on social media? I hate the idea of doing that because then I can’t be my weird self. Oddly enough, all of my friends are from work. Awkward

We will match you to agents for FREE!

The major agent database platforms (you know the ones) left too much to be desired, so we built one ourselves BUT...

We need feedback before launching - signup for free at writequeryhook.com

Just about every author who has been through the query trenches will agree: frankly, it sucks.

So here are seven querying hacks to make the process a LOT smoother — and give you back hours of precious time that you could be spending on your next story.

I don't know if this needs to be said, but comments from your editor shouldn't be mean or soul crushing.
Editing is a collaboration between author and editor. The editor should have an idea of the author's vision/what they're going for and do their best to help them get to that vision. 1/

Just logged into my bluesky account on my macbook because I absolutely hate typing on my phone. Wonder if this will make posting easier because I really want to be documenting my author journey

I decided to study story structure and turned to my fav author Emily Henry. The minute I started rereading Great Big Beautiful Life, I was enamoured by her sentence structure. There’s so much to learn because I absolutely hate sentences written by me. But Emily’s sentences are a work of art

I miss when books had chapter titles and epigraghs so I'm indulging in both for mine.

Chapter One: What Remains

There is no want.
No fear.
No flame.
Only the rhythm of a body too stubborn to stop.

It’s a spectacular writing day because not only did I write 2,000 words (WHAT?!) but I also crossed *drumrolls* the 50k mark of my rewrite. I’m making strides and so proud of myself #writingcommunity

@clarepooley.bsky.social just finished reading this marvellous book. As someone who wants to be a published author, how to age disgracefully is a masterclass in character development. I am inspired to write a mean character who’ll win your heart by the time the story ends. ✨

I swear by this. Turn it off and let the words flow.
I don't know if this is a writing tip exactly - but a thing I do when first drafting a book:

I turn my spell checker and especially my grammar checker OFF.

My biggest writing peeve is spending ages writing something and it not turning out to be a work of genius adored by everyone. Very annoying. 😤😤😤
and now for something free and easy: writing pet peeves! Nothing big, nothing problematic, just little irritants you personally hate

Mine - I never want to hear the sentence “I’m sorry, what?” or variants thereof ever again

Does purchasing Scrivener and spending two hours setting it up count as writing?
