AI search is in its buzzword era - and same.

Some terms aren’t new, but they’re everywhere.

So, I started Buzzword Betty - a blog series that breaks them down in plain English.

Vol. 1 covers:
– Vector Embeddings
– Cosine Similarity
– Semantic Similarity

OK, I ran 3 tests to see how AI Mode was being tracked in GSC. I tested AI Mode via incognito mode. The impressions and clicks did not show up at all, so I'm not sure AI Mode is being tracked yet. I'll run some more tests, but all three returned nothing. Back to the drawing board. :)

I ditched “SEO.”

Not because it’s wrong but because it’s too damn small for what I’m actually doing.

Why “SEO” Isn’t Cutting It Anymore
Let’s not sugarcoat it; the internet has been flipped. AI didn’t quietly sneak in the back door.

Search is the user now.

Google is using LLMs (trained on how we think, ask, and explore) like MAGIT & eDeepRank to influence rankings in real-time.

This isn’t AI sprinkled on top; it’s the foundation.

Google’s asking questions. Is your brand ghosting?

In the Age of AI, search isn’t about stuffing keywords.
It’s about showing up with real answers.

I wrote about how Brand = SEO now, and why clarity wins:

Your audience isn’t just people anymore—it’s their bots, too.

Google’s AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot…
These are the gatekeepers now.

If you want to reach your audience, you’ve got to get past their AI assistants first.

Most SEO tools are lexicon-based
But Google is fully semantic

❓So why are we optimizing for keywords?

As a former Target lover, I can say with authority- few headlines have brought me greater satisfaction than this one.
The divergence here from two companies with *very* similar customer bases is pretty wild, you do not see this sort of thing happen at scale very often.
Target suffers 10th consecutive week of foot traffic declines, sinking stock prices since caving on DEI
Costco, which resisted pressure to ditch DEI, extends foot-traffic gains streak to 15.
