Invited to see #TheTaleofSilyan a magical blend of Macedonian folklore + modern life. It’s emotional, imaginative, and hits today’s story of economic migration in the sweetest, realest way. Makes you laugh, cry, and start a tiny revolution. Release in December!

At #UCL-SSEES I dove into the very strong Balkan cultural bond with the broom, the rolling pin & of course - Баба Рога /Baba Yaga / Jaga baba😂 My folk tale ended up involving domestic violence 🫣… but hey, we grew up with these stories and for many in the Balkans, that’s just our folklore ‘normal’. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The punctuation mark “/” (slash) is called коса црта in Macedonian. Literally, коса means “hair” and црта means “line,” so the literal translation is “hair line.”
Machines are funny “hair line” in English has a completely different meaning. 🤣

Enjoyed an incredible #WienerSchnitzel and #apfelstrudel at a #German restaurant Stein’s Berlin in Kensington today!
When leaving I turned to my hubby and said, “Ah, nothing beats cozy Slovenian/Austrian comfort food,” and he replied, “Pretty sure the Germans might disagree!” 🤣

My fight with the parking enforcement resulted in Council assigning extra inspectors on overtime!
Now, everyone gets a 10-minute grace period in a “no parking anytime” zone, and they’ll even negotiate if you need more time.
That’s what I call tax money well spent!👏🤪 #Morning chat with inspector

At the festival reception, my hubby pointed and said, “Two empty seats - let’s go!” We sat down, and the girl next to us lit up: “Ooo, Slovenes! I can hear Slovene!”
It turned out she was the director of Three Birds, the Slovenian movie. 😀 A perfect pre-film moment and chat! ❤️

When you both fail the “Which (our) Slavic language are we speaking?”

Him: “English or our language?”
Me: intrigued “Our? Macedonian? Slovene?! ok”
Him: starts speaking Serbian

Me: Oh, of course - the universal one, like in Yugoslavian times.🤣
*Mine was a bit better, my grandpa would’ve proud!😉

Me: “Take your time”

Today’s event #ConversationWithKamalaHarris was an eye-opener, not just in what was said, but in what was missing.
The lack of empathy for the protesters from others and especially security really stood out. We often say Trump is the one without it, but empathy seems in short supply all around. 😔

I just watched the #DjAhmet - living proof that ‘moving with the times’ doesn’t always mean leaving your herd behind.
Recommend it! ❤️ #Yörüks semi-nomadic Turkic tribal people. Name originates from the Turkish verb to walk - yürümek and means: they who walk as a way of life. ❤️ #NorthMacedonia

There’s a different kind of homesickness, one that isn’t about cities or streets, but about small, ordinary moments.
The warmth of your own cup of coffee. The comfort of your own bed. Things so simple they’re easy to forget - until they’re gone, and you wonder if you’ll ever have them again. 🇺🇦

Just listened to #Jambinai at the #Barbican tonight. They don’t fit into genres - they destroy and rebuild them. They blur the line between tradition and noise, chaos and harmony. I cried, I felt alive, and my ears are perfectly fine. ❤️

A day alone but not lonely - three exhibitions at Tate Modern, a windy lunch, a coffee, and a cake. It’s wild how peaceful life feels when you give yourself time to simply exist.
Suh asks, “Is home a place, a feeling, or an idea?”
I find home in small moments, 🖼️ , ☕️ , 🍰 and peace with myself.

When I was younger, I sometimes forgot to call my parents. Their revenge? They’d finish the doctor’s appointment, go for coffee and lunch, and leave me overthinking every minute of that “three-hour” wait. Justice served… with a side of latte and salad! 🤣

#GreySkin is a 14th-century sealskin manuscript - one of the oldest copies of Njáls Saga. By the 1500s, its worn pages were patched with new corners and leaves, proof that even sagas needed stitching to outlast the centuries. #Reykjavík #WorldInWords 😍

#BlackBeach #Iceland = straight-up alien planet vibes. Yellow sign was on: DON’T go in the yellow zone 🚫 We were hunting for a warning sign on the beach … spoiler: there isn’t one. Should’ve studied the map before entering instead of following the vibes 😂 #Reynisfjara Tripped over and marked my shoe

My hubby knows that I love black beer, but he doesn’t know that the Icelandic one is 11% (!!) 🍺🥴 As a non-drinker, after half glass I will suddenly be fluent in Icelandic and this book will make perfect sense. 🤣 #Reykjavik #TheBookstoreBand

Ever tried bread baked by the Earth itself? 🥖 In Iceland, you can taste #Hverabrauð - rye bread slow-cooked underground by geothermal heat. For extra bragging rights, boil an egg in a hot spring too! 😃 #HveragerðiGeothermalPark

In Reykjavik, your dental routine is basically a dare: warm rotten-egg water aka volcanic fart 🌋 or face-numbing ice one ❄️. Adventure guaranteed.
