I'm working on a Laminar Flow Fountain Nozzle project and made a 3D Printable parametric "straws" section. I can resize the walls, hex diameter, overall diameter. It's beautiful, but results in a 2-3+ day long print. OTOH, I can make a solid object, print infill without a top or bottom in 14hrs.

In a moment of perfect timing, right as Sallah and Indy are lifting the Ark out of its resting place, a gust of wind blew through my open window. It was a great confluence of experience. I kind of wonder why 4D movie experience never took off.

I'm working on a Disneyland project and looking at maps. I don't think I have ever appreciated how close some of the spaces are. Less 100 feet between Tropical hideaway and Carnation Cafe. It really is a triumph immersion that you don't feel it in the least.

A second attempt at my keyboard board was almost perfect... I put the RP2040 on upside down (That darn logo tripped me up!) I attempted to repair it with hot air, but made a mess of things...

I shall try again, maybe tomorrow.

You can leave me, and about 70 million other voters, out of this "we", @newyorker.com.

*We* warned you, over and over and over. *We* lived through January 6. *We* listened to his speeches and believed him. So leave us out of this, and hold the people who chose this, on purpose, accountable.
Fascism is now in the algorithms, the neural pathways, the social interactions. How did we fail to see all this? “We wanted to see Trump in terms of his absences, so that our way of seeing the world would go unchallenged,” Timothy Snyder writes.
What Does It Mean That Donald Trump Is a Fascist?
Trump takes the tools of dictators and adapts them for the Internet. We should expect him to try to cling to power until death, and create a cult of January 6th martyrs.

Well done @booker.senate.gov. That was not only an impressive feat, but a great lesson in civics and the importance of character in upholding The Constitution.

The more projects that I do, the better I get at documenting stuff as I go. Often, when I want to write a blog post about something that I'm working on I find I have to go back and capture pictures and try to recreate representations of stuff from "the middle" of the journey.

I just watched a 40 minute documentary on Super Mario Bros. 3 speed running. For all its faults, there are a lot of things I enjoy about living in the future.

So I just submitted a complaint to the SEC about US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick encouraging people to buy Tesla Stock on Fox News, and I am legitimately anxious about retaliation. Any prior administration I wouldn't be worried about it, but these guys...

I went to the Apple Store to take a look at the new Blue Sky MacBook Air. It is as everyone says it is. Barely blue in the Apple store. It is blue only if you’re looking at it from an angle if you’re standing immediately over it, it looks silver. This laptop is as much blue as Lacroix has a flavor.

Here’s an idea:

If “waste, fraud and abuse” are actually being uncovered, could we see a couple examples that can be investigated and confirmed by an independent 3rd party?

Because I believe

DOGE is theater.

I woke up very early this morning, And one of my random thoughts was “In the Flintstones, when they have Christmas, what are they celebrating?”

I just spent the better part of a day trying to build a Shortcut in macOS to turn a screen-captured video (.mov) into an mp4. This felt a lot more difficult than it should've been. I know the .mov extension is a classic, but why doesn't it default to the most-popular format of the last 10 years?

I was just watching a video and it was showing pictures of (one of) Leonardo Da Vinci's notebook(s) and I was trying to read the text in it - it was weird. I thought "Maybe the video flipped it, or this is just generated".

No you fool - you can't read it because IT'S ITALIAN.

“To Walt, visitors would become the "guests" in his fanciful realm. To most amusement park operators, they were "marks," to be shaken down for as much money as could be squeezed out of them in a few hours.”

So I really didn't appreciate the state of trying to research a product in 2024. I don't feel like I can trust anyone. I go looking for a website or a video review of a product, and everything feels tainted by marketing. Consumer Reports remains dependable, but they don't review everything.

@ihnatko.bsky.social On your (umpteenth) recommendation, I finally listened to Patrick Stewart's "A Christmas Carol". What a performance! New tradition for me.

My kid has recently really gotten into Paw Patrol, and I caught myself humming the theme song. Which invariably reminded me of this: youtu.be/w8iPo0YFaeM
So naturally I go and listen to the CatSquad theme song: A cartoon show that exists in a Kid's cartoon show that I - an adult - just listened to.

I've been listening to Christmas Music for a week already. I really kind of gave up waiting for Thanksgiving during the Pandemic. I have no regrets about this.

My Badge "Simple Add-On" for Hackaday Supercon 2024: The MacSAO. While it's not an actual emulated Mac (not nearly enough pixels), it does have a full drawing API so you can animate your own early-Macintosh sequences. aeiche.com/macsao

In an effort to keep a computer out of the landfill, I replaced our 2010 iMac's spinning drive with an SSD. Opening this style of iMac is always an interesting experience because of how they're engineered. A little before the Jony-Ive-extreme-era of form over function, this is still tricky to access
