July 10 is a bad day for my little state. My home in the Northeast Kingdom. I was there for the flooding last year and it was devastating. Thinking of everyone impacted this year.
For the third year in a row, to the day, extreme weather has hit Vermont. Some locations in the Northeast Kingdom and Addison County were heavily impacted last night. We will work together to make sure everyone has what they need to recover, as Vermonters do. I’m thinking of everyone affected.

There are entire schools all over rural America that won’t be able to open in the Fall if their teachers can’t get visas.
Military families expecting au pairs will have to find alternative child care that may be prohibitively expensive.
Tourist hubs in the U.S. will be chronically understaffed.

Really appreciate what I’m understanding is an incomplete if not unverified news report on a Sunday morning. Seriously. Weekends are for my kid and I don’t want to be attached to my freaking phone all day responding to (justifiable) panic from every corner of my personal and professional life.

Lots of talk on here about autism and other disabilities right now. Reminder to use people-first language… “person with autism”, “teacher with a disability”, etc. People first, always.

Seriously, it would be a tremendous act of service journalism for some economics reporter to write the piece on what a) everyday household items b) major purchases will spike first.
I'm trying to think of all the shit I should consider stocking up on considering The Tariffs and it's just so much after a big day of work
