A hearing is about to start in Abrego Garcia's civil case. I'll try to cover for @lawfaremedia.org . Colleague @annabower.bsky.social might be joining. Among other things, govt is seeking to dissolve Judge Xinis's preliminary injunction preventing Abrego from being removed immediately.

Okay, the closed hearing is over. We should be resuming with oral arguments shortly. I do have a deadline, I'm afraid. I may not to cut out around 4:30pm, regardless of whether we're done. ..

Rand has nothing further.

Now Judge Xinis is closing the courtroom for 10 minutes of testimony under seal. After that we'll resume with oral arguments.

I know this isn’t the point but is it normal for DHS officials to stay at a Ritz-Carlton on work trips?

“Eventually the woman discovered that Ingrassia had arranged ahead of time to have her hotel room canceled so she would have to stay with him..”

As you watch the extraordinary spectacle of Trump's government attempting to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda, let's not lose sight of just how lawless and indefensible Trump's misconduct has been all throughout.

Here's a thread recapping all of it. 1/

So grateful to @gregsargent.bsky.social (#ff) for his pertinacious efforts to uncover the truth and ensure that Kilmar Abrego Garcia get a fair hearing in the court of public opinion. Still a long road ahead, but the path ahead is becoming increasingly clear. FIGHT BACK. Winning is possible.
Lawyers for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who has been released, have been informed by ICE that he could now be subject to deportation to Uganda, and he's been told to report to ICE next week, a source confirms to me.

A few points about this, because there will be a lot of bullshit about it. 1/

According to court filings submitted ahead today's hearing, the government plans to call the same witness that it did during the last hearing before the magistrate judge.

The witness is Special Agent Peter Joseph, a homeland security investigator who has worked on Abrego's case.
