One of those “terrible cellphone photographers” I enjoy sharing the moments I have been so fortunate to experience firsthand. Life is an adventure! #hiking #biking #SUP #cooking #gardening Rarely not working on something creative.
Absolutely gorgeous tree! I had a detour on my travels last Summer and saw a massive weeping willow. I had to stop.
Have you ever been driving down the road, minding your own business when a tree insists you stop and take a picture of it?

Enjoying the #GreyCup at home tonight. I really prefer an early game start. I wonder if Winnipeg is experiencing a watermelon shortage this weekend?

This is the best thing about the darker days of Winter before the solstice❤️ It’s such a beautiful way to share art and lift up the artist. It’s also a great way to explore and expand your imagination. Thanks to @jayispainting.earthskyart.ca for this. It’s a LOT of work and I really appreciate it!

Still eating fresh thyme from the doorstep. There was 6” of snow on the bbq lid by the time I got home last night but it didn’t get cold enough to damage the things still growing by the house.

Today I get to teach a young man how to take apart and clean a bathroom fan. It’s never been cleaned in 15 years so this will be highly entertaining. I can’t wait to see his face. He’s in college now to become an electrician. 10 years ago I was teaching him how to make a grilled cheese sandwich.

My neighbour has set her Christmas tree up. It’s 16° and I’m out watering my herbs, and flowers on the doorstep in a tank top. Such a bizarre year! The wind is blowing in some moisture from the west though. I can feel a change is coming.

I love it when someone is this excited about something we are still learning about that is absolutely prehistoric!
Get in, losers, we’re going to the Cambrian Explosion.
ZOMG LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE SHALE

Okay, so the Burgess Shale is a fossil bed in British Columbia that contains a whole bunch of fossils of weirdass creatures from the Cambrian era, over 500 million years ago. But the great thing about the shale is that it has fossilized SOFT PARTS!

Hi Bluesky 👋

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

Canada’s latest Toonie commemorates the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Designed by BC’s Mary-Ann Liu the artist who sculpted the Tomb’s bronze relief elements 25 years ago.

If I could sell art at the same pace that I am creating it, life would be good. Nonetheless, I shall continue to produce so that I don't have time to think about the anxiety.

The ocean has been hoarding heat. Now it is building up a massive 'burp.'
Even if humans cut emissions enough to reduce global temperatures, new research shows the Southern Ocean could kick warming back into gear.

I haven’t done Tunisian crochet 🧶 in years but was asked to make a scarf to go with the toque I made for a friend. This reversible pattern goes fast and should be easy enough to teach her if she wants to learn.

A favourite spot to walk not far from home. This small lake is home to so many birds and has some fruit trees that are slowly growing and make for some nice snacks on my walks in the summer.

They are taking this study seriously. My friend starts chemotherapy Thursday and they made sure she was boosted 2 weeks ago.
People who received an mRNA-based Covid vaccine — it didn’t matter whether it was Pfizer or Moderna’s — up to 100 days before starting immunotherapy were twice as likely to be alive as those who either didn’t receive the vaccine or got it outside that time window.

What If the Covid Vaccine Could Save Cancer Patients Too?
A stunning new study offers early evidence that Covid-19 vaccines might have a secret superpower: a precisely timed mRNA shot could help many cancer patients live longer.

The season of reds and golds! I haven’t been able to get out to enjoy it like I wanted to, but I found this little tree by my favourite spot at Tie Lake, BC. The Crowsnest witches paddle was today, and I missed it again. Every time, I get a head cold.

Super cool article. The sub-Saharan snake bite stats are wild! I’m pretty sure my Sister was completely unaware of the risk. She’s hiking and cycling through that part of Africa at the moment. I don’t think she likes snakes any more than bats.
By combining 8 different nanobodies isolated from alpacas and llamas following immunization with snake venom - this research team has produced an antivenom that not only protects against 17 different snake venoms but also protects from tissue local damage, a major problem associated with bites.
Single antivenom protects against 17 different snakebites
Researchers immunized an alpaca and a llama with snake venoms, and combined some of the antibodies produced into a potent cocktail.

Enjoyed the first concert in years last weekend and now I have the first head cold in years as well. Not terribly surprised, but it still sucks. The only good thing about it is that I can successfully control all of the symptoms except I’m so very tired and the antihistamines make me so emotional.

I'm still furious at Microsoft for trying to force hundreds of millions of perfectly good computers into the landfill so they can stuff our online lives with surveillance, AI slop and ads.

There is a better way. Switch to linux. It's now easier than ever.
