1. “Wait, say that again” idea saves the day
2. Big, tough guy is a softie at heart
3. The dog can talk now!
My top 3 can't-miss movie cliches:

1. Villain is killed whilst monologuing
2. Crusty, sour older relative gifts super-meaningful heirloom to young protagonist
3. Dog to the rescue!

This is VERY SILLY and also VERY FUNNY.

"I Will Strangle A Horse", by @brainmage.bsky.social.

Don't say I didn't warn you.
BEHOLD!

My first ever choose-your-own-adventure game!

"i will strangle a horse" - over seven and a half thousand words of absolute nonsense, as you help Martin Jenkins on his first day at The Farm.

While I’m recommending things from @gralefrit.bsky.social: his book, “Be Funny Or Die”, is *wonderful*. If you’ve ever wondered how and why comedy works, this is the book for you. www.gralefrit.co.uk/books.html

This is a fantastic article from Joel Morris about storytelling. And AGATHA CHRISTIE *DOESN’T KNOW WHO DID IT* 😮
I've written at a bit more length about The Traitors, Agatha Christie, and 'The Kierkegaard Edit'.

How story works best back-to-front.

Posit: Harry and Marv are killed by Kevin’s very first attack. The rest of the movie (and sequel) is their own eternal purgatory, constantly bested by Kevin as a penance for their sins.

From a commercial for Mid Pacific Air that I worked on in 1985, shortly before I was hired on Star Trek. I designed the control panels and made the animated (fake) computer readout using a model airplane onto which I'd applied "vector" lines using graphic tape. Prod co: Ostrander, Patrico, & Blu.

These are scans of the original b/w line artwork created for the brass etched silhouettes used in BLADE RUNNER.

They were scanned whilst we were working on THE FIFTH ELEMENT

Coralie Fargeat’s “The Substance” is quite the trip; think “Barbie Carrie Shining The Fly Thing”. Recommended if you’re okay with body horror and incredible female lead performances.

Also: let’s normalize crediting type designers in movie closing titles 👍
