We've crossed the Rubicon here, especially if any of these blue states/cities follow through. The only historical precedent I can think of for this is police in the North arresting federal marshals who kidnapped people under the Fugitive Slave Act in the 1850s.
Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal warns ICE:

"No law enforcement professional wears a mask... Those that come into our communities wearing a mask to commit crime... You getting arrested".

"Fake wannabe law enforcement... The criminal in the WH will not be able to keep you from going to jail".

Today, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics published data that showed workers' share of business income is the lowest *ever recorded.*

By this metric, workers now receive a smaller cut of the revenue they generate than at any other time in recent history.

A Black man named Keith Porter was shot and killed by an ICE officer on New Year’s Eve.

Marimar Martinez was shot five times by an ICE officer in Chicago who went on to brag about leaving seven holes in her body.

This is not new but it is expanding.
Your reminder that what happened to Renee Nicole Good is something that happens regularly in America. This is not new, but it is an expanded version of militarized people targeting Black people in particular.

From ICE detention to murder with impunity, we've been doing it. Now it's broadened.

I'm old enough to remember when tariffs were supposed to turn into big stimulus checks for every household instead of an excuse to increase the bloated military budget another half trillion to fund more wars

Maybe I just don't relate to some use case here, but the venn diagram crossover between people who use AI for everything, use local AI on device, and find current local AI to be too slow seems like it would be pretty slim?

In this week's CES product announcements, it looks like most chip, laptop, and phone makers are doubling down on faster on-device AI speeds as the main marketing and benchmarking standard.

I'm a bit confused about who is really asking for this though, even among AI power users.

It can be about oil (amongst other things) without that goal being entirely rational economically. There's a bit of a tendency for the public to overestimate the assumed hidden 4-D chess of American geopolitics.
The amount of “this is clearly about oil” posting across all platforms as story after story comes out where the oil industry is saying that the oil isn’t worth extracting is making me feel a little insane
