Library Clerk and geek of many stripes (comics, board games, anime, manga, fairy tales, etc). Nerdy enough to watch anime. Old enough to not give a damn if someone calls them "Japanese cartoons".
I think one of the problems in the U.S. remains the level of individualism and what people use it to get away with. We are like two weeks away from a Republican Senator saying on TV "It is my god-given right to be corrupt" and a surprising number of people shrugging and saying they can't argue that

You know, I think @gailsimone.bsky.social may have been exaggerating how impressive a Snoopy cup collection is. Because apparently you can just buy four of them at once.

Today is the day off I requested! So, I do not want to think about Congress today! So, I'll think about, uh . . . parade balloons instead! You know, this year Macy's is debuting balloons for Buzz Lightyear, Mario and Pac-Man. Crazy it's their first, right? [CONT]

With the writer getting the rights to Roger Rabbit back, I think people need to remember how different Wolf's book was from the movie. Thanks to @dominicnoble.bsky.social for this video existing. #RogerRabbit #Disney #Touchstone www.youtube.com/watch?v=2At-...

So, tell me, why does this #Smurfs game I've been playing have a super dramatic freefall/flight stage? #videogames

One of the frustrating things about the current political situation in the U.S. is that even freakin' Smurfs tried to warn us.

Like, seriously, there was an actual Smurfs comic storyline about how dictators legally rise to power. AND it was adapted for the cartoon!

I don't want this to happen, because I don't want these big companies getting bigger.

But if they do, we at least need a cartoon that has the Looney Tunes meet Woody Woodpecker. Or, like, DC meets the Universal Monsters.
Comcast / Universal is reportedly actively exploring a bid to buy Warner Bros assets

They've hired banks to evaluate an offer and have been granted access to WB's financial details

That would be great. But at this juncture, all I want to know is what happened to the USS Prodigy. Here's hoping there's some mention of them in that Academy show (there probably won't be). #startrek
I just hope that whatever happens it’s forward looking and not yet another prequel (but I’m not going to hold my breath).

Currently watching Tex Avery Screwball Classics vol. 2

I wonder if I'm odd among cartoon fans in that I like MGM's Droopy cartoons more than their Tom & Jerry cartoons.

Well, I just spent the entire morning writing about Casper the Friendly Ghost cartoons.

I should probably brush my teeth or something now.

Not sure people will agree with my conclusions in my new blog post about Casper.

But my series about past cartoon stars continues regardless. I'm thinking this particular groove might figure into the next one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDoD...

Casper, cartoon and comicdom's friendliest little ghost. But is there still a place for him in modern cartoons? tinyurl.com/2znzc7mk

Casper,the Friendly Ghost
The friendliest ghost you know
Though grown-ups might look at him with fright
The children all love him so . . .

Well, I've been putting it off, but I suppose it's time to start some spooky Halloween viewing. I think this will do the trick.

(Hey, with things how they are right now, this is about all I can handle).

Watching the latest #Ultraman Omega before work. I think the characters just formed the franchise's most casual defense team. #tokusatsu

Question: Do people still treat the New York Post like a serious newspaper? Even when they create images like this?
Interesting cover from NY Post

And ones that resemble places kids think of to display "stuff". Been reading Superman stories from the 70s and it kind of strikes me how much the Fortress of Solitude resembles a children's museum.
Wealth = STUFF and kids want stuff.

It's noteworthy that Batman and Superman BOTH have (but don't necessarily "need" when you think about it) 'lairs' that are basically "A secret fort ONLY for hiding but also displaying all of [their] best stuff."

Wonder how they feel about the Cocteau film.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast is the best adaptation of the source material and I'll fight anyone who argues otherwise.
I saw the anime "Belle" and was shocked by how shallow it was compared to a the 91 Disney production.

Watching Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers.

The thing about these Hanna-Barbera's Superstars 10 movies is they seem to be combinations of cartoon pilots combined with all the pre-90s pop culture riffs they can manage. [CONT]

Why do I feel like the details about some of the treaties we've had in place since 1945 are going to be broken?

Oh, geez. I hope Captain America: Brave New World's weird mistake of having Japan with an active military wasn't prescient. The MCU predicting the future would be the cherry on top.
Anyway, Takaichi believes Chinese people are China spies, women shouldn't keep their maiden names after marriage (even though she does), she visits a shine known to have WWII denialism, hates immigrants and tourists, opposes same-sex marriage, only wants men to take the Imperial throne, & much more.
Commentary: The media often misrepresents Japan’s new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi by using inflammatory labels that distort public understanding and amplify foreign disinformation campaigns undermining the country’s democracy.
