Library Clerk and geek of many stripes (comics, board games, anime, manga, fairy tales, etc). Nerdy enough to watch anime. Old enough to not give a damn if someone calls them "Japanese cartoons".

You know, I think @gailsimone.bsky.social may have been exaggerating how impressive a Snoopy cup collection is. Because apparently you can just buy four of them at once.

Today is the day off I requested! So, I do not want to think about Congress today! So, I'll think about, uh . . . parade balloons instead! You know, this year Macy's is debuting balloons for Buzz Lightyear, Mario and Pac-Man. Crazy it's their first, right? [CONT]

Stuff about cloning and genetics were big in science fiction for kids at the time. I just can't help but wonder what other variations of Transformers we might have gotten if they kept trend chasing (Though, I guess we did get "Autobots as superheroes")

One of the frustrating things about the current political situation in the U.S. is that even freakin' Smurfs tried to warn us.

Like, seriously, there was an actual Smurfs comic storyline about how dictators legally rise to power. AND it was adapted for the cartoon!

Casper, cartoon and comicdom's friendliest little ghost. But is there still a place for him in modern cartoons? tinyurl.com/2znzc7mk

Well, I've been putting it off, but I suppose it's time to start some spooky Halloween viewing. I think this will do the trick.

(Hey, with things how they are right now, this is about all I can handle).

No, but it's part of the Criterion Collection. And it created a lot of the things you see in later adaptations. Like, it had a proto-Gaston named Avenant. Previous versions just had Belle's sisters as the v tillains.

Fun fact: Fairbanks's Robin Hood costume was likely the inspiration for the original costume of Robin, the Boy Wonder.

There was a comic book one shot of him put out by Antarctic Press like 2 years ago.

I don't know, but that's a common thing with Japanese properties. In Gekiranger, this thing was called the "Geki Hammer".

People really got to stop surprising Komi with these #manga cover photos. Did Najimi take these?

Checking out Infinity Train Book 2,which I found in a cheap DVD bin at Wal-Mart. It used to be that you couldn't even order this show because Zaslav cut animation releases or something. Anyone know how this one managed to finally escape confinement?

[GASP] New Kaiju Girl Caramelise #manga releases this month! I thought this series might have been cancelled!

Watched Mechanical Marie, about a girl pretending to be a robot maid. Can't help wondering if the folks who made this show have seen the ballet Coppelia.

Watching a LOT of anime right now, at least until I cut down my list. But I specifically tried Alma-Chan Wants To Be a Family this morning. The robot girl is cute and necessary, but I think I like the parents a little more. They're straight up doing the whole "egotistical mad scientist" bit [CONT

You know, I don't consider myself a "toy guy" (wait, that's @aaronmeyers.bsky.social thing), but I do specifically pick up action figures of certain favorite characters that don't get made into toys often. Among them are Jubilee and her Gen X friends. I managed to find this one recently [Cont]

Oh, but nothing will ever beat the original fake-gentleman-vigilante Deadshot. Top hat and all.

My four favorite DC characters (non-Superman edition)
Honorable mentions: Hawk & Dove (Hank & Dawn), Deadman, Tim Drake, Kon-El, Secret, Cassie Sandsmark, Fire, Ice, Elongated Man, Pre-Crisis Katar Hol, Pre-Rebirth Barry Allen, Snapper Carr . . .

Goggle-V and Gavan. 1982 was kind of a dry year for Kamen Rider, Ultraman and the major kaiju.

My first #Superman comic. What's yours?

To be fair, Marvel seemed to think he was going to be too. They gave him his own comic (part of the then-new "Marvel Tech" line), and had him appear on Spider-Man Unlimited.
