I think we take the good stuff about the internet for granted too much some times. As much as we talk about doomscrolling and T&S and platform manipulation & on & on, being able to talk & listen to other people on the internet has made my life immeasurably better and I’m so thankful for y’all

As Bluesky has grown, I've seen a lot of backsliding on alt text. Please try to be considerate to others and include alt text with all of your images. It helps everyone. Indeed, in the "accessibility" setting in Bluesky you can set it to make sure you add alt text, which is a useful thing to do.

It has been a great joy to work as part of America's research and technology engine. I hope it doesn't all disappear.

Happy New Year! Despite the challenges and turbulence, there’s so much to be grateful for as 2023 draws to a close, and I’m looking forward to more new adventures in 2024.

I’ll be interested to see how the vibe of Bluesky evolves as more communities / niches of experts join. That was Twitter’s superpower!

Right now there’s a lot of meta-conversation on social networking (makes sense!)

Would love if something analogous to Science Twitter grows here.
