It can be easy to see bill numbers or policy points and miss the crux of why fighting for access to healthcare is so important: it's about Kansans getting to live happy, healthy lives as their true selves. No amount of political theatre changes this basic reality.

Too often, our "justice" system actually serves as a mechanism for punishment, precluding any chance for justice. By passing the Second Look Act this session, Kansas lawmakers can give people serving long sentences a chance to prove their rehabilitation, growth, and gain a second chance at life.

With just hours of notice today, Kansas lawmakers changed tomorrow's informational hearing on a law altering gender markers on documents into a full hearing. If you'd like to submit testimony on HB 2426, the deadline is 10 am, Tuesday 1/13.
