Made a little browser extension to translate numbers into words when you toggle a button. I've been thinking about it since listening to @accessiblenumbers.bsky.social Accessible Numbers podcast.

I haven't quite cracked big numbers yet but just wondering if this would actually be useful?

Can anyone suggest a strategy for turning old presentations into accessible and useful documents, please?

8 of my old presentations are available online but not fully accessible. Some information is now out of date too.

Does anyone else catch themselves leaning towards the screen to read/watch content instead of maximising the content. Either by zooming in or using the full screen button?

Thinking of how we use one data point to assume everything about a person.

Someone has wifi so they must be well off (they might be using free wifi on a bus or library).

Someone uses Dragon software so they must be blind (they could have a motor disability or be dyslexic).

It’s brilliant to see this out in the wild. My old team at HMRC built this interactive accessibility personas prototype to do online accessibility awareness sessions. It has since been iterated to include a dyscalculia persona.

Dyscalculia is persistent difficulty in understanding numbers.

Roughly 4 million people in the UK are dyscalculic.

20% to 60% of dycalculics might also have dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism or ADHD.

Dyscalculia is under diagnosed and research is decades behind dyslexia.
