Bitch on Wheels – Disabled Is Not the Same as Elderly
Are people with disabilities, small children, elderly, teenagers, regular adults? The truth is that we are all of the above. But many people want to lump us together in some category. Available on Ally and Activist tiers or one-time purchase.

While I strongly advocate against ableism, I don't consider my disability the same as being sick. So, maybe what he said wasn't that bad. I do believe he should ensure Alt text availability for all social media posts.

Goodbye 2025, Happy 2026
It's goodbye to the very stressful 2025. Here comes 2026. Will it be better? Let's make it so.

LOL. Sometimes those of us who are a little ahem,,, older forget that our youth do not have the same cultural references. Spending some time working at a university taught me that. It does give our younger people a chance to poke fun at us.😂

Healthcare Disaster - 2026

What is the risk to people with disabilities if the tax subsidies for the ACA are not extended and Medicaid cuts also take effect?

Let Brown Community Grieve Without Conspiracies

Four people have died, 9 people were injured, and communities have been left to grieve the losses. Still, there has been a lot of finger pointing and the whole event has been politicized.
December 24, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Of course, if the Republican Party is concerned, they should put up the best candidates for election. Isn't that the American way? They are looking for an edge to cheat others. Not a good move.
December 24, 2025 at 7:38 PM
Because some students cheat (and using AI inappropriately is cheating), students with disabilities will be punished? It is not okay to paint everyone with the same brush. Until we have the best guardrails, we have to be vigilant and let those who cheat know there will be zero tolerance.

Inclusion or Exclusion in Extracurricular Activities?
Even schools that do a reasonable job of providing academic accommodations fail to be inclusive when it comes to extracurricular activities. Available to paid members now and to the public on 12/29/25.

Who Is Left to Defend Disability Rights?
After the Orange-Faced Monster took office, the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice was essentially gutted leaving only about 300 attorneys for all civil rights defense. Attorneys left or were reassigned.

This is a longstanding problem. It makes me feel sorry for the TSA miracles that they have such a need to think we are privileged. Maybe that's their disability?
it sucks that some people will fake a disability but it doesn't suck nearly as much as the idea that every disabled person should have to be on-call 24/7 to prove their disability to every miserable self-appointed robocop who sees them in public and thinks "i bet they don't need that wheelchair"

The person with the disability should have requested the appropriate accommodations. If she requested them and the employer did not provide them, the fault is theirs. It seems that there is a lot missing from the article. Let's give the judge a little credit for going deeper than the article.

Bitch on Wheels - Respect?

Why do people insist on treating adults with disabilities as children or puppies? I’m tired of being petted, called dear or honey, and treated as though I am not capable of anything. This is going to be an “I’m tired” kind of episode.

Disability activism is a GOOD thing. It's inclusive. It reduces barriers. Rubio long ago fell off my list of respected people even if I didn't agree with them, and now heads a very long list of people I can never respect ever again.

For crying out loud! It's a big deal to change a font? My goodness! Let's all insist on Ariel no TimesNewRoman. People with dyslexia have an easier time reading it. Or, is that their point? Prevent access?
Disability activism is not a bad thing! Don't let them change the words to mean something else
The US secretary of state says the ‘wasteful’ switch from Times New Roman pandered to disability activism

Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities
This day is an international day of observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. The theme being put forth by the UN for 2025 is “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”

If students still need accommodations, tell them to email you to set up a time to meet privately. This is what I do. Time for quizzes and recorded lectures are inclusive and cover the majority of accommodation needs.
December 2, 2025 at 11:01 PM
It shouldn't even be a problem at all. If you want your students to learn, make the course inclusive. Record your lectures. Give 2-3 days to take short quizzes online. Once you do things like this, there will be little need to add accommodations.
December 2, 2025 at 10:58 PM
That's for sure. They need to understand the emotional toll. When students are struggling to keep up, adding the burden of always asking, and then appealing, is exhausting.
