I was at a talk last week, and I gave an example of a quick & dirty narrative rule for keeping an audience onboard for repeated outings of existing characters. People seemed to appreciate it, so I thought I’d share it here, too.

Always put in my everything to work. Literally slipped a disc during one of the busy periods of Fall Guys. Took about 6 months after being laid off to remember what being human without work felt like. Still feel adrift not having a permanent role over 2 years on
Being laid off feels especially hard when I remember how many times I put my job first before my own health, well-being, and family. When I worked weeknights until 11pm and on weekends to hit production quotas, during PTO, and filed three stories the day before it happened. There's a lot of grief.
