Laura Harris is just a #Cricket machine. On her debut for Otago she only goes and smashes 52 from 17 with six 4s and four 6s. Always one of the more exciting women to watch bat. #SuperSmash

Something has always made me happy watching #SuperSmash cricket whether it is the women or the men. Thanks to the fact that this league is broadcast on ESPN here in the States, the NZL league is the first one I ever followed and really the one that made me fall in love with the game.

Listen team England. I do t want to brag or anything but once I started rooting for England in the #Ashes we’ve broken a 15 year and 18 test drought in Australia.

I’m not saying it’s all me but I’m not, not saying it wasn’t me either.

It was me. You’re welcome England.

Call me crazy but I really don’t see the “impending doom of Test cricket” that so many throw out. I agree that #T20Cricket has made an impact on the long form but I see too many arguments denigrating the short form instead of looking at ways to improve the long game. We can have both.

If you love #T20Cricket as I do then Christmas is really bringing it this year.

11 straight matches with no gaps between. The first matches for #SuperSmash #BPL a few #T20I and more #BBL and #ILT20

My Christmas present to you all - it’s my annual Women’s Team of the Year for @theguardian.com!

What do you reckon - did I get it right?

Not enough Cricket talk on here. I'll start. Peak Shane Bond was the best FAST bowler NZ has ever produced. #cricket

One thing I am immensley curious about regarding Test cricket in the coming year is what will the squad/administrative makeup of the #ECB look like.

While it seems like the overall concept of 'Bazball' is failing, what is the plan moving forward from a failed #Ashes with NZL on the horizon?
December 23, 2025 at 7:46 PM
I'm hoping for something more impressive out of the English during this next Test. I feel like they've gotten a little bit closer from the start of the #Ashes but just not close enough. I really hope to see them win at least one Test on this tour.

The answer to questions of should [insert any form of cricket] by open to women is always yes.

I would love to see more red ball matches for women at all stages of the game. You want to save Test cricket? Open the format up.

Well the bad news is I picked the losing side to follow in the #Ashes. The good news is I am already looking forward to the next addition and may even find a way to catch a match. Just need to be in the UK for Christmas in 2027.
December 21, 2025 at 4:02 AM
Someone explain how this rain is a good thing for England. If the match is abandoned then Australia retains the #Ashes trophy anyway, right?
December 21, 2025 at 12:24 AM
Well this #Ashes is just about over from a competitive stance. Overall, I’m definitely happy to have finally started legitimately watching Test cricket. Still love my T20s though. Now I get to have one more thing to love (or hate based on how England perform).
December 20, 2025 at 9:44 AM
I am finally able to lay in bed and watch the #Ashes. Finish your damn lunch already guys.
December 17, 2025 at 2:01 AM
Anxiously waiting for tomorrow afternoon and watch the third #Ashes test. England have to win out to steal back the title but that has to start with a win in Adelaide. Hopeful? Yes. Confident? Not even remotely. History appears to be heavily on Australia’s side.

Elyse Villani is retiring from WBBL!!!

Confirmed tonight after the game on 7 that it was her last WBBL game and she is moving on.

What a way to retire after winning the trophy for the first time.

Today is the first match (11:30 pm CST) of a very intriguing #T20Cricket series: the Gulf Cricket Women’s T20I Championship.

I think this is super interesting because the Gulf states are insanely wealthy and use a lot of wealth on bettering their image via sport.

I've just seen the results from the end of the regular season for the #WBBL.

Couple of thoughts...

Hurricanes were the class of the campaign. Deserving of the top spot. Hope they win it all.

The Melbourne Rivalry worked out well with the Stars edging the Renegades for the final playoff spot.

Well, exactly what I worried would happen, happened.

England lost the second Test and are down 0-2 in the #Ashes. I fell asleep when the paused for tea and was worried that I’d wake up to a loss.
