I would also mention the lawless disappearances of innocent people by masked agents of the state
Today marks six months since Trump took office. His “accomplishments”:

—Prices for household goods are skyrocketing
—Businesses have been forced to plan for recession
—300+ rural hospitals are at risk of shutting down
—22 million working families could lose some or all of their food benefits

Jonathan Greenblatt has appeared on television, podcasts, and the Fox News op-ed section all on the topic of Mamdani & a phrase that, all evidence suggests, he has never used.

While this actual instance of grotesque antisemitism gets only a singular tweet, not even a statement on ADL’s website.
Po zbezczeszczeniu mogiły w Jedwabnem. Pytania do władz świeckich i kościelnych
Budowa swoistego antypomnika na prywatnej posesji w Jedwabnem to akt antysemityzmu i wymaga reakcji władz oraz autorytetów społecznych.

Genuinely pondering what Americans are getting these days for upholding their end of the Lockeian social contract — if your electeds are this callous about letting you drop dead, what is a government even for?

Bracketing for a moment how awful this story is, what a stunning abuse of passive voice. Noor Abdalla is not only unnamed but unmentioned in the headline & lede about her own labor. Instead, it says “son arrives,” giving a baby boy more agency in his birth than the grown woman who delivered him.
The Department of Homeland Security denied Mahmoud Khalil permission to attend the birth of his first child, who was delivered at a New York hospital on Monday, according to emails reviewed by The New York Times.
Mahmoud Khalil’s Son Arrives After ICE Refuses to Let Him Attend Birth
Mr. Khalil, a permanent resident detained in Louisiana, had requested a monitored furlough for the birth. His request was denied in less than an hour.

So I just deleted my Twitter account and because I had made a “developer” profile to use the API for research years ago, they emailed me that profile would be deactivated. The weird thing is it’s all still Twitter branded — name, logo, etc. “X” only appears once at the bottom. It’s kind of eerie…

Every single one of the 200+ comments is begging Peters to pick up the phone & vote no on cloture. Astounding how unresponsive you can apparently be to constituents if you’re not running for reelection. There isn’t a single one of Peters’ 8 office phone lines where we can currently leave a message.
Happy 313 Day Detroit! I’m honored each and every day to represent this amazing city and the Detroiters who call it home.

Buttigieg’s name ID and fundraising advantages were freezing the Democratic field in Michigan. With him ruling out a bid, the floodgates could open. Keep an eye on:

-state Sen. Mallory McMorrow
-Rep. Haley Stevens
-Wayne County Health Director Abdul El-Sayed
I care deeply about who Michigan will elect as Governor and send to the U.S. Senate next year, but I have decided against competing in either race.

I wrote more here about my decision and how I view the work required of us all in this moment:

Hey, @peters.senate.gov, why are my calls being dropped? I’ve tried your offices in DC, Lansing, and Detroit 5 times this morning and not been able to even leave a message. Pretty uncool way to treat constituents the day of an extremely consequential vote.
P.S. vote no on cloture.

They sent her home to die because her pregnancy voided her humanity. The duty of care doesn’t exist for women if it can evaporate like this.
What's even more fucked once you read the full story is that the doctor insisted on an extra ultrasound AFTER the fetus was already declared dead while the mother was on the brink of death because they wanted documentation to cover their asses in case of a lawsuit.

Heinous beyond words.
A Pregnant Teenager Died After Trying to Get Care in Three Visits to Texas Emergency Rooms

Dare I say this is possibly the best moment for a democrat discussing abortion on the debate stage this cycle

The force and humanity with which she delivers “it’s not a talking point for women — it’s our lives.”

“Do not trust him.”

I can’t wait to vote for her.

The degree of voter literacy required for most opposition voters to understand that they have to decline the referenda ballot (not just leave it blank!) is staggering. In a record-turnout election, only ~40 percent of voters accepted the ballot. Polish case can teach us all a lesson.
