Some of us live with chronic illness, and a cold can take us out of life for months. Some of us are allergic to antibiotics so it’s not so simple to treat common infections. Some of us don’t want to accidentally kill a person we love who’s dying right now. Don’t be an asshole about people in masks.
Masking discourse is on again and I’ll just say if you see people masking when few others are it’s likely because they’ve determined that for them, in that setting, the benefit of not catching (or spreading) whatever’s going around is worth the cost of masking. It’s rarely more complicated than that

Not sure who needs to hear this but one cannot “deport” a citizen.

Thank you.

Some surveys indicate that the share of older Americans who prefer to handle issues by phone is as high as 88%.

THAT'S ALMOST ALL OF THEM.

This is going to go great.

First, we had Disability Rights, then we had Disability Justice, and now I would like to unveil my own framework: Disability Vengeance.

This is an unhuman level of evil, to compare kidnapping and human trafficking to package delivery.
The experience so far makes it pretty clear that the US immigration authorities are much more into the idea of deportations than they are of making sure they deport the right people.

Which means that if we make it through this, there's a need for top to bottom reform.

in case you're wondering, "what's the harm in claiming an extinct species has been brought back from the dead" when it most certainly has not, our interior secretary is already using it to justify taking animals off the endangered species list

Pay attention to this. Genetically notified gray wolves does not a dire wolf make.
No, the dire wolf has not been brought back from extinction
Colossal Biosciences claims three pups born recently are dire wolves, but they are actually grey wolves with genetic edits intended to make them resemble the lost species

Kidnapping.

Capturing a person against their will without due process is called kidnapping.

Transporting them to another country without due process is called human trafficking.

A squalid extrajudicial prison for people found guilty of no crime is called a concentration camp.
stop calling things deportation just because they call it deportation.

-You cannot legally deport people without due process.

-You cannot legally deport citizens.

-They are defining down deportation to break the law.

To the true trans allies out there, how would you feel about an organizational policy of not being able to speak up when your trans coworkers get misgendered repeatedly in meetings?
April 3, 2025 at 7:28 AM
To all my folks out there who use they/them pronouns, how would you feel about an organization encouraging you to sit there and be misgendered all while hoping others “quietly” and “privately” offer corrections on your behalf? If the status quo is that “good intentions are the best we can hope for”?
